QUOTE(cherroy @ Apr 21 2010, 12:10 AM) Since Rafa likes to play 1 striker. Then there is no place for starting eleven for the so called partner striker when Torres is fit time. Unless the player willing to sit on the bench, there is little chance established striker want to come. Totally agree with the asessment on Rafa..but the problem with the setup is when Torres gets injured. Crouch left mainly because of lacking starting chance. Frankly speaking Liv only have 3 recognised striker, Torres, Ngog, Kyut. Need to see what the manager liking of system and tactic, before the personnel can fit into it. Rafa very rare play 2 strikers on top. You want winger to cross the ball, then you must someone that can attack the ball or head the ball into the net. With 1 striker upfront, it means you have 1 target most of the time. That is a very high propabality situation especially as LIVERPOOL play with one striker...the ball will go to Torres most of the time as he is the lone striker (target man) I think its better to have someone to pair up with him. Also agree with the assesment on the crosses must come with more target man to benefit from the cross. But most of the time when Liverpool attack there will be men in the middle. Even when we counterattack, if it's out on the wing, the player will hold the ball and then cross but i think players like Babel, Benayoun - do not cross as much as to be desired. Kuyt is not a natural winger but has fill in the role for quite some time...but still much to be desired. Maybe Maxi will change into that type of winger. Lineup for next season (if no money) Reina - GK Agger - CB Carra - CB Johnson - RB/LB Aurelio - RB/LB Mascherano MD Aquilani MD Maxi MD Benayoun MD Gerrard AMD Torres ST Reserves Bennayoun Babel Skrtel Insua Ngog Kuyt |

Don't quite get what you mean when you say that he is a good player but offers nothing? Personally, I've been a fan of Milner since he was a budding 17 year old. I think he has good technique. Not the quickest bloke but he has a good head on his shoulders.

Am I only one who thinks that the main priority is not to buy a striker but is for the new doctor to keep Fernando Torres fit? We haven't had Torres fully fit for a whole season and we know how an injured star striker could affect a team, eg. Rooney, Van Persie. Hopefuly the Australian doctor would improve the fitness condition of our players.
In an Arabian fantasy word, I would like a David Villa but in reality, N'Gog and Kuyt are sufficient as backups. |

QUOTE(uNeVErwaLkaloNe @ Apr 21 2010, 09:59 AM) MU - berba, owen, macheda (exclude rooney) Yeah, but correct me if I'm wrong, they are not exactly lone striker teams as well. Chelsea pairs Drog with Anelka, United - Rooney with Berba, City - Tevez with Ade while Bellamy on the left. Well worse comes to worst we still have Babel and Nemeth. arsenal - bendtner, eduardo (exclude van persie) chelsea - anelka, kalou, sturridge (exclude drogba) city - adebayor, bellamy, santa cruz (exclude tevez) spurs - crouch, palychenko, gudjohnsen (exclude defoe) rafa always play kuyt at right, so we really only have ngog. by comparison, our backup is the worst. each "strong" team should have a reliable backup striker, one who can become a match winner when needed. But I agree with you that compared to our rivals (Save for Arsenal) we are short of out-and-out strikers. With Voronin off, it's safe to say we could expect a similarly priced striker coming in? |

Yossi can leaves if he wants, IMHO. He has already delivered his role in Rafa's plans; the super-sub.
I'm still sticking to the idea that Rafa is trying to buy 2 of each, making variations of team A, Team B, Team C, option D, in the limited resources as he sees it. In this case, Yossi can go, I think. He's served the purpose well, but of course we want a better Yossi that came on the pitch and won us games. |
