Lfc the long travel to madrid game (europa), looks like atletico starts as favorites given long journey saps players mental strength.
look at barcelona last night, got whacked 1-3 after the long bus journey to milan from spain for the game. |

personally, just my opinion though, if RB really gets 60mil to spend during the summer, david villa is one good target, even if valencia value him at 40mil.
we are in a situation where no players in the squad apart from torres and gerrard can win games by themselves, and we have seen how this affected our season when either or both of them are out injured. torres may score less when playing alongside villa, but the important point is that torres is able to complement villa's playing style and bring the best out of the other spanish striker. we've seen during the last two summers where either one of them will score when playing together. villa would be able to drop further back as supporting striker, replacing gerrard who can move back to central midfield where he can dictate the flow of the game. i'm reasonably comfortable with our wingers at the moment, these are the least of our worries for the time being. skrtel had a poor season thus far, but before he went injured he was regaining his form that made him a regular last season. agger is good enough if he can stay fit for a season, soto's a good back-up and has aerial dominance like hyypia. carra is getting slower as the years pass, and to be honest he lacks the footballing brains and touches to terrorize opposition players, over these few years many strikers have proved that he is not really that hard to play against. i voted for a striker solely because we lack credible players in that position at the moment. there's one signing already this summer but i'd like to think that every club should have at least 4 strikers who can go straight into the first team. ngog will drop in the pecking orders but that doesn't mean he won't improve over the next couple of years. who knows maybe ngog will be as prolific as torres in two years' time? |

40m for villa is abit overprice as of now considering his age. 30m will be a good buy. well, as if Valencia is willing to settle with 30m. lol

QUOTE(madmoz @ Apr 21 2010, 04:26 PM) well, of course that's just a value i put there for the sake of discussion. i don't know if he'll even be available for transfer this summer, but what i'm trying to bring into discussion is that we currently lack matchwinners in the team, and villa would be a good addition from the pool of players we can look at.having said that, nobody knows how he will perform in BPL, he could be a total flop, but at least he's got some reputation for creating goalscoring oppoturnities and winning matches for valencia for the past few seasons when the team failed to perform. we can sign all the kuyts, mascheranos, maxis on a bargain, but what's the point when they can't score the winning goal when we need them to? |

I'd offer no more than 10 million for him, and even then i'd think twice. Not an insult to his qualities, but more of the fact that Rafa never seems to want to play two upfront. Keane was on paper a very decent link man, a decent leader and a match winner, but that did not turn out well did it? having said that, nobody knows how he will perform in BPL, he could be a total flop, but at least he's got some reputation for creating goalscoring oppoturnities and winning matches for valencia for the past few seasons when the team failed to perform. we can sign all the kuyts, mascheranos, maxis on a bargain, but what's the point when they can't score the winning goal when we need them to? What Liverpool needs imho is a solid defensive leftback and for Rafa to actually fight the good fight, instead of TALKing the good fight. I'm ok with Kuyt on the right, cause Johnson, despite all his gung ho attacking qualities defends like a sissy. But then, what would I know? I'm a Stockport supporter.
