QUOTE(cleave @ Sep 25 2010, 10:59 AM) Oh. I am on stock ROM and haven't seen it. I have some questions. I am finally going to root my Nexus One to customize and personalize my baby. As mentioned, I am still on stock ROM (2.2). So I am wondering, would the rooting procedures be different since most of the guides for rooting were written prior to the introduction of Froyo . Also, by rooting, would it compromise my option of receive updates such as 2.2.1 via OTA, leaving me with no choice but to update manually ? I have just gotten a new and higher capacity microSD card and I initially thought I can install the Android OS fresh and new onto the memory card but little did I know, everything is still intact even after replacing the memory card. Duh!! |

You cant follow pre-Froyo rooting guides if you got to 2.2 through OTA. Most likely that your HBoot is an upgraded one. You may need to downgrade it first before rooting. And yes, once you're rooted you cant install official OTA updates. You'll probably still get the notification, but it wont install over non-stock recovery image. Saw many people comments that it doesn't void warranty if unroot. Is this true? Anyone using universal androot? Reliable?umm, Android OS is always installed to the phone's internal memory. |

a few comments on the AndroidCentral post suggest that perhaps Google has improved/fixed a WiFi issue.

Hi, need some advice as I'm still pretty new to all these updating stuff.
I'm about to move from CyanogenMod 5.0.8 to 6.0.0 on my rooted phone, and also upgrade to a 16GB class 4 microsd card. Are the following steps correct? 1. Backup SD card's contents to PC. 2. Copy downloaded ROM 6.0.0 to SD card's root level. 3. Copy downloaded Google Apps to SD card's root level. 4. Boot into recovery (I'm using ClockworkMod version). 5. Wipe data and cache. 6. Flash CyanogenMod ROM 7. Flash Google Apps 8. Reboot and test to make sure everything is working. 9. Swap 16GB card into phone. 10. Restore backed up contents from PC to new card. 11. Enjoy new ROM. Did I miss anything? Any suggestions as to how I should partition the 16GB card, bearing in mind I plan to load around 8GB of music onto it. Thanks for any help. |

How come you dont backup/restore your apps & data using Titanium Backup? You dont need to partition your SD card as CM6 does not support app2ext. This post has been edited by cleave: Sep 28 2010, 12:25 PM |
