Pg out 2GB? I guess you must be doing alot of videos/pictures editing is it? Pg out the best would be 0 ideally then again as low as possible. Try reboot and monitor all your stats including pg out especially. In long run with constant pg out is not healthy as it is sort of like thrashing the disk. With high pg outs means I need to use alot of your disk to swap things out.
If you run alot of editing maybe you can compare your stats with other regular here as I only use mine for browsing, some picture editing (but nothing fancy), iTunes, games, iChat, torrent and other normal stuff.

Can try to detect any programs with memory leak?
I would recommend reboot and check the memory usage. Then use is as normal and check again.

Your wired seems high though but that's just my opinion. Those if Im not mistaken are the ones being used by the system so it will stay in memory resident and will not be swapped in/out. Mine running snow leopard with wired ~450MB. Otherwise all other stats give looks ok.


There are other means of monitor the memory in mac/*nix like vmstat etc just in case you're interested.

yea.. i do photo editing heavily.. and i always open about 2 browsers with total of 15-25 tabs.. itunes playing mp3.. stickies showing some stuffs.. sometimes also running MAMP and Dreamweaver..

but high page out will cause the HDD crash faster? is there anyway to solve it? add ramh?
and how to know about memory leak?

anybody know where to download driver for page pro 1350w konica minolta printer?

i'm a totally mac newbie but i'm planning to get a macbook pro asap. aiming for the 13" one. is it ok if i buy from forumers in lowyat? how to check whether it's original or not? can i send back to shops like machine/mac city to repair if it happens to have any problem?

page out happens when ur RAM is full. no more space, so it has to temporarily transfer (page out) the data to ur harddisk. this contributes to lag. it doesnt necessarily make HDD die faster, juz that more file transfer between RAM n HDD is going on

yes, more RAM would solve it. memory leak can use activity monitor

oh, i found the apple online store already. is it cheaper to order from there? sorry for asking newbie questions.

and if i get a macbook and i want to link it to my desktop monitor, must i get extra cables? is the cables to connect included in the box? i'm using a samsung monitor.

and seems like they don't have speakers/headphone for macbook. can i use ipod headphone to link to my macbook?

Fews answers lump together. Can buy anywhere even from forummers here in lyn. All are genuine except I've seen one whereby it looks like Apple on the outside (without apple logo of course) with aluminium look alike etc. Well from what I know all apple product are genuine (except for iphone but you can easily spotted its not genuine)

Many choose apple online store due to these reason mainly:
1) You can customer your mac. Built to order. So you can add more ram, change screen type, change hdd etc
2) If you are a student or work in those field you can get educational discount.
3) If you are comparing it with no changes and no education discount the prices are exactly the same (some retailer can sometimes throw abit of discount but expect it only to be in region of 100-200 and nothing more I think)

You can buy from those shops and the benefit from what I can see or what I know:
1) Some shop have easy payment scheme like 0% interest etc
2) You can get it on the spot most of the time if they have the stock rather than wait for few days for it
3) Some shop throw in freebies like keyboard protector (but don't expect much in this) or have a loyalty card where you can collect point and can use the point to offset your next purchase.

Currently the process is that you need to agree terms and conditions that you belong to one of those education stated.
However they will do random check on that and for example they might ask you to fax student card etc. So as long as you are one of those educational group you should be fine.

Yes you can use external monitor but you need to get the cables seperately. It is not included. Depending on the mac you are planning to get but all new ones have mini display port. They have mini display port convertor to VGA or to HDMI. Choose what you have for your Samsung monitor

From what I know depends on Built To Order (customize) or just a normal ones. They would ship it from Singapore or China. BTO will take abit longer. Expect maybe 1 to one half week. Standard one week should be ok.

speakers/headphones dun have "for macbook". most speakers and headphones use the same 3.5mm jack. cheap rm30 ones, ipod headphone, even rm2k ones, all use the same jack. no matter for notebooks or mp3 players or old walkmans

yes u need extra cables. depends what input can your samsung monitor receive. a macbook uses MiniDisplayPort. so for example, you samsung monitor needs DVI, then u need a MiniDisplayPort-to-DVI adapter

Yes add more ram. I bet you must be getting beachball alot. Browser will not eat alot as I have around the same tabs opening. I suspect 2GB page out is from mainly heavy photo editing

How to know memory leak, same as windows method. If a program eat 100MB when you first using it and after long usage suddenly it turn out to be eating 500MB then something amiss.
