The shorter plug has no earthing connecting to ground while long extension wire does. It's the earthing that grounds the excess ant-bite current. smile.gif

Roger, but yangz said that he changed from the short to long socket, so I thought when he said socket .. he meant power strip (aka extension) .. probably you're right, he might meant the plug instead..

What does auto enroll mean to you? is it that hard to understand that the warranty by default has been extended to 3 years on your mac? check here, https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do

Is the ACPP worth getting from AppleStore for RM749 (edu price) or should wait around for some offers by resellers?

resellers in Malaysia cannot reduce the price of ACPP,even if they did they would try to maximize their profits by bundling togather with a mac purchase from their store.

guys, you know when you first receive the notebook, the magsafe power adapter actually comes with a plastic wrapped around it, i trimmed the excess so the plastic would not interfere when i inserted the plug.. and right now the plastic is still attached to the adapter..

the main reason im doing this is to keep the adapter clean and to keep it looking new.. but i've been thinking, would there be any negative consequences for this action?

IMHO it would not be safe as the plastic wrap is of normal quality ad when the adapter gets hot, there is a chance it will 'burn' and melt into the latter. Worse still it may cause a fire. But that's just my opinion or I am just paranoid.

@jind86 No point wrapping it to keep it clean... If you wanna keep it clean then you could wipe it every weekend or something =D Like PeeEl said, it wouldnt be safe to wrap it around with the plastic as it will get hot after long usage... So suggest to take it off..

@xirality Im not sure about Form 4.. Maybe you could call apple up and verify. As I understand from the T&C, it caters for higher education students (college and above) but teachers for high school is exceptional..

@boaz I dont think resellers will reduce their price... Apple products are price controlled by their HQ... So either they will bundle in promotion packages like what nimrod323 said or sell it individually... Best to get it through online with the education price... Thats the best offer.. Try not to get those from sellers that only give you the code but not the whole box... Insist on the bxoes =D

@milky I doubt that apple will further upgrade again so soon after this upgrade.. Maybe a few months time but nobody knows exactly when they will upgrade it... Rumours saying by this summer, apple will announce the iphone 4G maybe that time they will also include the 13" upgrade but still its just a guess..

i doubt they'll upgrade the MBP within 2 months.. very very unlikely.. they'll probably make a small upgrade at the end of the year.. but the major upgrade will more likely happen during the same time now next year..
