Thanks to all who responded to my shipping question ... I'll be using PosLaju service as the buyer willing to pay for it. The things we do for this addiction of ours - it just amazes me.

Don't worry, these hobby (flashlights and knives) wouldn't waste your money, in fact, it is an investment. The least, you can use it. That is why almost all of my blade are for general use. I don't buy kerambit, kris or the same that have specific purpose (but i do have a piece of dagger; Gerber Guardian Backup)

These two things, if you didn't abuse it, will last till your great-great grand children.

I'm a noob when comes to blade "technology". I just know how to use a 'cooking'  knife wink.gif.  But I'm sure all the knife expert here will recommend Spyderco for the best. Although I've learnt that the Persistence and Tenacious has the same type of blade quality. And there are other more higher quality serious stuff from Spyderco (and more expensive). Mine should be a basic.
Oosh.. nice stuff you got there drool.gif I have a victorinox for more than 10 years now, real good stuff smile.gif. And yea.. I am considering a Leatherman wave at least biggrin.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif Need budget first biggrin.gif
*
I'm a noob when it comes to actually using tactical knives as well actually haha. I can deploy and close my blades fast and thats about it. Spyderco is definitely up there as one of the top brands but there are plenty of others as well.
As for leatherman... check out the Skeletool CX or Charge AL or Charge ALX... these have a 154CM plain edge blade (but 420HC serrated blade for the charge's and no serrated blade for the skeletool). The Charge TTi even has a S30V blade (one of the best stainless steel blade materials IMHO). The Wave's blades are both 420HC (pretty decent but not quite as good as 154CM and the others).

just be sensible when EDC'ing a blade. any blade can be considered an offensive weapon in the eyes of a cop.

Haha, maybe find a good knife and buy 1, so, if only 1 to buy, which one is the best, price medium lar.

I also like the bag you bought at Wangsa Maju, he sell that type too? haha, tumpang you buy again, if going to that place.
This is the persistance i bought: user posted image

Comparison with Persistance, RM180 (below) and Tenacious, RM200 (upper)

I think Qtrmaster will be bringing in Tenacious only, which is eta next week.

For the bag you've seen, it's a Magforce M-5 Waistpack, almost an exact replica of Maxpedition M-5 Waistpack, also have the same quality so it seems. I can show you more the next time we meet haha. Will let you know the price later. But you can also order the Maxpedition from Qtrmaster also. It is slightly cheaper. Don't think he's carrying stock and will have to order.

Thanks for this great info, will look up more info on the Skeletool. My plan for a leatherman is not so soon though smile.gif But I have a feeling, eventually, I won't be satisfied until I get one.. doh.gif

EDIT: Btw, about the knife safety stuff and our "grey area", don't worry. I have also other dangerous stuff than just a blade, so am not so lost in this area. From experience, I've caught in a real robbery situation years back and wish could have been more alert and prepared to avoid or overcome it. But using a knife as a self defense tool is a last resort IMO. Especially with a blade like this. Things can really get messy and might end up in a situation you don't want to be responsible for. After disengaging your opponent, you need to make police report know... lol

i bought mine from amazon [ with other tool logic's stuff ] + some macro pelican cases. parcel came in on Monday [ surprisingly no tax or being detained by customs ! ] laugh.gif

Under exposed is better than over exposed, and bounce flashlight definitely helps.

The out of focus is maybe your F (Aperture) is too big for the light condition (low light, so F go to max (yours is 3.5?), hence lots of bokeh/blurness), try limit it to >5.6 may help sharpen the image (whole picture staying in focus).

But the bokeh / out of focus blurness can be good effect anyway. All these can be helped by tri-pot and bounce flash, but not the F1.4, haha, at 1.4, it will be more out of focus for close up shot.

Not have a chance to buy a macro lens, haha, all $$ used up in flashlight. icon_question.gif

Overall, the photo is still very much prefect to my eyes.
Oh, your composition is damn good, this 1 I really tapik, you will even wet the knife for better effect, brilliant thumbup.gif

I'd recommend the Byrd series. Built like a Spyderco but priced much lower. Even the steel performs similarly to VG-10 at a much reduced price. Low RM100 can get. =D

U gotta service it to get it to perform well of course. =D

U need tp use a smaller aperture (higher f number like f/11) to get more depth of field (more stuff in focus). f/1.4 would be far worse.

U dun need a macro lens, just shoot as close as possible then crop! Haha!

U dun need a flash too, just set up a nice diffused lighting "studio" with all ur flashlights! Use bounce or a cloth to get the diffused (soft) light.

Hehe.

Bokeh is "out of focus parts".
