bro,
thanks for your reply.
sure, will check the circuit with my contractor. i dont want to install the timer next to switch....
but the timer can work for 3 gang switch right (sharing the light - indoor & outdoor)....but very ugly then...
to install next to every light (4-5 timers) will very costly...huhuhuuhu

tq again bro

If you don't want to install timer next to the switch due to cosmetic concern.
Alternatively, you may consider switching the light with "automatic light sensor switch".
Do check out this thread and below wiring diagram. wink.gif

No need to headache, just follow my proposed setup. laugh.gif
Refer to below self explanatory diagram. thumbup.gif

• Easy to DIY.
• Minimum modification.
• Utilize existing two switch.
• Selectable Auto Mode or Bypass Mode.

Happy DIY! rclxm9.gif

I throw the timer inside the ceiling beside the downlight that I want to control. No need beside the switch.

I actually bought the photo control switch first. After talking with the electrician realized that in order to put teh sensor in a position (@ my house) was going to be difficult and the hacking involved to hide the wires were also difficult. SO decided to go conventional with just timers. thumbup.gif

The timer can be installed at the fuse there, not a bad idea though. However if you the wiring is for few lights or so on then it will be complex.

You need to rewiring your hager timer. It is probably they bypass the switch or parallel to the hager timer.

Tell to the electrician.

anyone know why my hager timer suddenly have the 'seconds' clicking sound. Like some clock each time the second needle move, it will have a clicking sound. It used to be no sound. Is it time to change or there is a quick fix for it?

Sorry for bumping up this old thread but I think it's still better than creating a new one on similar topic.

About the timer for porch light, since there's no neutral line next to the switch, I guess it should be ok to just install the timer next to the light itself right? As my porch light is those normal 4' fluorescent light, I'm ok with the timer box siting next to it.

Wiring sketch as follows:

Thanks

Yes, it is ok. I install it in this way.

You might like to consider another type. Which is cheaper. But not sure the reliable.

Thanks for the suggestion. May I know how's your experience using the wifi one? Does it come with internal battery for the time backup?

It run on the power from the switch. You don't need to switch it OFF. No battery inside.

If no power come, it just off. When power return back, it will run back as normal. The timer prg is already save inside.

So far so good till today. Nothing happen and no issue.

The different between 2 is that hager run on mechanical timer. While Sonoff on electronic software timer. But Sonoff require wifi and net.

Hi everyone,

I am trying to install a Heger timer EH711 for a LED "eyeball" light for the insider of my condo front door.

The light switch has only 2 wires (believed live and neutral). I do believe that the said light switch may be looped from another light point next to the first switch.

Can someone advise? TQVM
