QUOTE(JinXXX @ Jul 28 2011, 12:01 PM) okie so there are two options, actually im planning to DIY the hager and power cables myself so it doesn't matter to me.. due to the way i implement the lighting.. i can't use photo sensor.. eg back light that comes on at midnight cause between evening to midnight , there is the kitchen light bathroom lights that provided some/little illumination.. so back to the question, where to get in PJ area.. ?? It is not difficult if you instal next to the light and hide on top of the ceiling. I do that for the car porch. But if you instal next to the switch, you need to wire a neutral from db or nearest place.

Can. You can use a switch to bypass the timer. Just a normal ON/OFF switch will do.

QUOTE(kelvyn @ Jan 4 2012, 11:28 AM) Wondering how to install the timer (wiring) if is to be installed beside the porch light? There is only 2 wires at the light. While someone mentioned ... 1 - Neutral 2 - Live 3 - <Nothing> 4 - Live 5 - Wire to light If instal beside the porch light, your light should have L, N and E wire. I guess you know which 1 is live and neutral. If you install beside the porch switch, than you need to wire out a neutral wire from the light or nearest neutral wire you can find. If you no idea what is L and N, better leave it to electrician to do. Safety first.

Here for those no idea where tap a neutral wire for the timer. Original is just 1 switch with no neutral in my storeroom. I modify it to 2 switch with a timer beside and take the neutral wire from the light. As you see the trunking running to the light. The light and switch is for outside backyard light. If locate at hall, don't use this way. The trunking freaking ugly. He.....

QUOTE(pky @ Jan 28 2012, 07:03 PM) do note, with that wiring, the 1 Gang switch act only as By-Past switch where the load can be turn on anytime by the user. User would have no control once the timer is in "on" position. You can OFF the timer by open the cover and switch the bypass button.

QUOTE(pky @ Jan 29 2012, 03:11 AM) If you are willing to OFF the timer by open the cover, might as well forget about installing the By-Pass switch. Just ON/OFF the timer by open the cover whenever you want to do manual switching. OFF the timer by open the cover is a temporary bypass switch in case you want to --> User would have no control once the timer is in "on" position. Switch it back once you done.

QUOTE(gotham11 @ Nov 8 2012, 10:19 PM) Anyone can advise where and how can I modify the current light switch (one gang clipsal) to the timer control light switch, which I can set to on & off the light. http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/51984.pdfYou need to provide the timer circuit for us to see how is the wiring. Just the front look cannot understand. If you intend to use hager, than read through this topic.

QUOTE(abm @ Dec 30 2014, 08:41 PM) anyone know why my hager timer suddenly have the 'seconds' clicking sound. Like some clock each time the second needle move, it will have a clicking sound. It used to be no sound. Is it time to change or there is a quick fix for it? As long as it can ON/OFF timely, don't care la. Use till it spoil.

QUOTE(atah @ Apr 20 2017, 09:22 AM) Sorry for bumping up this old thread but I think it's still better than creating a new one on similar topic. About the timer for porch light, since there's no neutral line next to the switch, I guess it should be ok to just install the timer next to the light itself right? As my porch light is those normal 4' fluorescent light, I'm ok with the timer box siting next to it. Wiring sketch as follows: [attachmentid=8749170] Thanks Yes, it is ok. I install it in this way. You might like to consider another type. Which is cheaper. But not sure the reliable. https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=84074408

QUOTE(atah @ Apr 20 2017, 11:17 AM) Thanks for the suggestion. May I know how's your experience using the wifi one? Does it come with internal battery for the time backup? It run on the power from the switch. You don't need to switch it OFF. No battery inside. If no power come, it just off. When power return back, it will run back as normal. The timer prg is already save inside. So far so good till today. Nothing happen and no issue. The different between 2 is that hager run on mechanical timer. While Sonoff on electronic software timer. But Sonoff require wifi and net.

From the switch ? Is the switch ON? 3) which model you buy ? from the manual, it has 2 models. Which another model is 24vdc. 4) Is the number follow correct?

QUOTE(takadanicklagi @ Jul 22 2019, 08:35 PM) Hey just thought of updating you. Was away. Today I went back to the shop and got it check. Confirm it's ok. So check again and apparently my neutral at the other end came off...that's why the clock was not working but the switch works manually. Now it's working.. Next will connect another light to this timer. So one timer control two lights. Thanks a lot...... Such a problem can be solve with the multi meter in a short time if you have it.

QUOTE(sgpdsmss @ Mar 4 2020, 08:21 AM) my hager eh711 clock running delay about 15mins per day ..adjusted to correct time ..next day time delay again... how to know eh711 using battery backup or capacitor ? if battery ..the battery changeable? thanks ... Battery just for backup. Nothing to do with battery as long as supply is there. It's probably the mechanism that cause the delay. Time to change it.
