before i pass my laptop to the service technician i alway try to wipe out as much trace as possible which include cache in IE, password in windows , artistic photo and video, ahem game etc...

then i will rename the admin account password to password.

but most of the time i will just use a HDD wiping tool to erase everything...

Good. But for me, all the number of times the DELL Tech has come over to my place have been ON-SITE service so I never had the problem or worries..... sweat.gif

YES IT DOES. But the technicians told him they need to bring it back for thorough inspection. THe last time they told me this, I told them, Look here..I paid for ON-SITE, so I would very much like/prefer ON-SITE. They said OK and they're DELL Tech came over on 2 occasions for my ALIENWARE..... I insisted but normally they don't ask....

So far it was within 10days. 10days on the dot actually but it wasn't during a time of part shortage. I paid cash but didn't think that would matter. If you pay by card they would wait for the whole process to go thru before starting on your unit.....

i paid cash, just received the payment received confirmation.. cant wait sweat.gif

its pretty much quite screwed up on dell's side.

i was put on hold for about half an hour while they checked if i was to follow the delivery date on their system (which was supposed to be today) or as per the logistic company's sms (which is tomorrow).

and then one bro here said not confirm? lol.

hmmm i even asked for an estimated delivery time and they say sorry cannot provide. i went like wtf over the line, did they expect me to wake up early in the morning and do nothing the whole day except wait at home for them to come?

and what if they decide not to show up and come the next day? 2 days sitting around doing nothing? *sigh*

oh and i think the after-sales support wouldn't be so pro on my side as well, afterall, the location's in jb & not kl.

Still waiting for my unit here, and sent an email to them.
The reply:

Good day to you.

Yes, the order is in Production for now.

Due to over whelming demand there is some parts shortage. Your order is in priority list already. Once is in your order will move 1st.

I will follow up for you

Err... Their HQ is in Penang. They have their staffs placed all over the country la. So I think their after-sales-service can still reach you. sweat.gif

As for me last time when claim my warranty, the call center straight said wanna take back my lappy to change the mobo. However I still insist on an onsite warranty. When the engineer came to my office, he came prepared with all the stuff e.g mobo, gpu, cpu and even the power brick just in case... The whole process takes about 2 hours and they did it in my office...so please insist on an onsite warranty coz u paid for it...

The first time I called them, they said my machine will be out of production on 12th and it might arrive a few days early (they gave me delivery date 21st April, but online says 26th April, misleading info)

I remember the there's one time I talked to one of their assistants, I told them "I won't be available at home during the delivery date" and they straight away said "would you like to proceed to order cancellation sir?" .... I'm like what? NO!

and I called again whether to ask if there's any part shortage, they said no there isn't any for M15x at the moment. And it should arrive on the third week...

I called -again- to tell them to send the machine to me on 26th and they said "yes absolutely can! we'll inform the courier and e-mail the follow-ups to you" and this goes on about 3 times and I never received any e-mail..

today it arrived, I'm not home, and it's the fourth week, and I had to call my neighbour/collegemate to pick it up for me...

just a few experiences I had with dell customer service, might be helpful for people who are thinking of buying from dell.. maybe it's better to buy from puto =D

maybe we can share the name of the dell's sales agent for our online orders, just to share experience?
