got question regarding the Alienware TactX mouse..does the profiles that u can customize only apply on games? i mean can u use it and customize the profiles @ buttons to be some sort of hotkey for other programs too? like productivity programs or maybe photoshop?
which is better? the tactX or the mamba? p/s: i've seen a dude using the triangle rubber (that use to prevent doors from closing) to create some gap between the desk & the laptop. it does the work well This post has been edited by jsc_tidus: Apr 13 2010, 01:52 AM |

QUOTE(deathbringer @ Apr 13 2010, 05:32 PM) the most common perception about the m11x is that just becoz it can play crysis at a decent framerate, it can also render images in photoshop at lightning speed. that's why the same question gets asked over and over again. is this common perception is true? or is it the other way? wanna know something, does this SU73000 proc is way faster than Pentium4 HT 3.6ghz & PentiumM 1.6ghz? |

it brings curiosity to me whether the materials used to made the lappy is somehow quite cheap cuz it can bent.. or maybe the malaysia's temperature is too hot for stuff like that.. this scares me, since i'm getting m11x around next week..

QUOTE Title: One single major flaw Date: April 14, 2010 Product Uses: travel gaming surfing internet, occasional office productivity work, stream videos online communication ReviewI would have given this product a 5 stars for the pros alone, however one major flaw that really hammered it to 3.5 stars. Pros: - Small form, light enough weight with good battery live (around 4-5 hrs normal office/surfing the internet) make it truely portable, great for travel. - Balanced CPU + flexible graphics options. - can run 720 videos without problem. Neutral thoughts: - only the most efficient player can handle stereo 1080 playback - this is a CPU bottleneck. It is the same with either graphics card. In general this laptop cannot handle full HD sound & 1080p content. I acknowledge that this laptop is not meant for that. So I consider 720p playback a positive thing. - does not support the new nvidia optimus, would be a nice to have feature - alienware's inhouse facial recognition login does not recognise your face everytime, even after 2 months of 'learning'. There is a setting to lower this requirement. User can always turn this off. Now the ugly: - the major flaw I mentioned: the SPACE BAR does NOT register sometimes. After extensive investigation I found that it is the mechanism design of the spacebar that causes it. (if it is only my brand new M11x laptop, then they have serious quality control problems) The mechanism that would make it register as a 'hit' is located on the left hand side. So, if you use your right thumb to press spacebar when you type, 1 out of 10 times it will not register. The spacebar would go in, but the mechanism is too far on the left to be pushed 'far enough' to register as a 'hit'. If you use your left thumb to type and press the spacebar, there is no problem at all (since the mechanism is right below). - For your reference I have average to small hand, my right thumb hit the spacebar on the area below the N and M key. And I don't type too lightly (I have no problems with spacebars with 10+ different keyboards throughout my 25 years with computers) So I do not consider myself typing incorrectly or abnormally. - I missed at least 10 spacebars when writing this review. Imagine putting up with this whenever you type. EXTREMELY ANNOYING. - other owners of this laptop can verify for yourself, try pressing the spacebar on the right most side (below the "," key) would not register AT ALL. Overall, all other minor flaws and extra features/more powerful cpu is just nice to haves. This is a very balanced gaming laptop, and to me, a reasonable price for what it is. Now, if you use your left thumb to press spacebar, there is no problem and I highly recommend this laptop - get it right away! And Dell, please FIX the spacebar design problem for right thumbies like me with your next revision! |
