Er, you mean may have to change the Byond box if want to record ?
I'm currently using another DVD recorder box to record also can set timer, what's the different compare to the Astro DVR? blink.gif
Hmmmm, not sure how much Astro will charge again ..... cry.gif

It should be software update for current byond decoder to be capable for recording function using external hard drive.
I hope Astro won't charge for this feature wish.gif
The different with your DVD recorder is it can schedule recording time using EPG & might support HD resolution as well.

Audience measurement data? I wonder how do they do this. As they have mentioned before that they decoders are only capable of one way traffic only, they do not transmit back.

Might be using IP network. If you notice, byond decoder has a network port. They might utilize it by connecting it to your broadband router. Just my guess hmm.gif Theoretically it's capable.
btw I don't want it as I foresee it's invasion of my privacy biggrin.gif

You need to ask TallJustin for this one, waiting for him to come back biggrin.gif
& you need to remember pendrive using FAT16 file system which file size limited to 2GB only.
Worst thing is you must use 'Astro' brand hard drive ohmy.gif but I hope not

wah... hopefully we will not have to record program using astro supplied HDD... notworthy.gif
sure it will be cost so much if they make like that...
Just wanna give one idea to astro, if they launch the new PVR decoder, they can make the system for the customer to "rent" it... it was the concept that Starhub in Singapore do. They rent all of their decoder to customer for some fee every month.... biggrin.gif

You can format your pendrive to ntfs... Not only fat16. The problem is weather the byond decoder can read ntfs file system.

AIYOOOOOO..
I think the earlier forumer her misunderstood the Astro statement la..about launching personal video recorder (PVR)
It clearly states that its PVR SERVICE..
so it should be the Byond recording capabilities
Some here misunderstood that astro were gonna launch a new set of PVR..
Dont think thats right

In other words, u can use the recording functions on Byond this month - according to Astro statement

But then, there's:

1. How can one record program on current channel while can't watch other channel?

Because it only have 1 tuner. Same like if you using DVD recorder now, you can't change channel if you want to record it.

Just a waste laugh.gif
Byond recorded video might be protected by DRM while DVD recorder is not. But you can only get SD resolution by using external recorder unless you're using something like HDFury2 as one of forumer here posted back in V3.
