QUOTE(the100308 @ Mar 26 2010, 08:27 AM) more like they are testing capping a service, and will start capping all service soon.HSBB was too ambitious, tmnet don't want to pay for the additional bandwidth yet want to create all this BS. What they do, sell high speed line and limit our usage more like another white elephant project. High speed numbers for nice to see only |

I think all broadband companies in Malaysia are all crap, slow (1mbps), expensive (RM99)
But compare to P1, UniFi is much much much better than P1 1mbps - RM99 with 20G cap... Compare to UniFi 5mbps - RM149 with 60G cap... Not need to bring out Maxis 3G with 3G cap, it is unbelievable little. My experience with Maxis 3G after over the 3G cap, I only get speed like "56k" compare the faster speed I get from Maxis 3G is 2.3mbps. It is less than 10% from 2.3mbps....... Price wise, think UniFi will stand out if compare within Malaysia, sure cannot compare to other countries like China and Singapore, it is dirt cheap and super super FAST... I also got Astro Beyond, so I don't need the IPTV... This post has been edited by mits27: Mar 26 2010, 08:50 AM |

60 gig cap and cap till 10% speed of 5 meg which means 512 kbit only
http://www.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?f...0663&sec=nation PETALING JAYA: After the excitement of Telekom Malaysia unveiling UniFi, its high-speed broadband service that offers Internet speeds of up to 20 megabits per second (Mbps), the bubble burst for many consumers here. Some are disappointed over what they feel are expensive charges for the packages for home users: RM149 for 5Mbps, RM199 for 10Mbps, and RM249 for 20Mbps. In Singapore, a 1Gbps (gigabit per second) service – which is five times the speed of a 20Mbps connection – only costs about RM200. But the real disappointment is the realisation that the UniFi packages have a cap on the amount of data that can be downloaded. The consumers bristled when they learned that the 5Mbps service is capped at 60GB of data per month. The 10Mbps service is capped at 90GB while the 20Mbps service has a 120GB cap. They were even more disappointed to learn that the data download caps are calculated on a daily basis. Consumers were further horrified to learn that if they exceeded their daily download limit, their high-speed broadband connections would be throttled down to about 10% of the purchased speed. Telekom Malaysia CEO Datuk Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa said at a press conference to announce the UniFi pricing yesterday that the measures were part of its Fair Usage Policy. “This policy is a standard industry practice to ensure that all subscribers get to enjoy the same web surfing quality,” he said. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak launched UniFi at the Dataran Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday night. This post has been edited by RoxyGal: Mar 26 2010, 08:52 AM |

QUOTE(RoxyGal @ Mar 26 2010, 08:51 AM) bwahahaha, I like this news and how it compare with Singapore broadband. A little reality check for TmNet.Everyone should read it. see how delusional TM CEO is. He talk crap about bandwidth when we face issues like routing problem. You can have 0 ppl using the backbone, but if the routing is screwed up, you still get slow speed. |

TM CEO is plain stupid, routing problem is one but with the increasing of number of applicant for Streamyx & now UniFi, for sure the bandwidth get clogged up till there will be a disruption on the NET...
And now, the capped the UniFi on daily basis just way Added on March 26, 2010, 9:09 amWhen will they give us quality services like in SG or KOR/JAP...maybe in next 100 years This post has been edited by monza84: Mar 26 2010, 09:09 AM |

either go for pay-as-u-go or give unlimited
with caps, people who use way less than their allowed caps will still have to pay the same for people who over-use their caps. that's still not fair! |

It's a small island, where management is tend to be easier. Yes, TM eat money, but what to do? Like you brag at here then they will be better? Why can't they implement rules like what they currently did with Streamyx, throttled P2P. It is much better than bandwidth cap...
Pay more, to get less bandwidth..congratz TM |

i think however any of us plead, with whatever facts and figures or comparisons, it will not move TM or anyone else to make changes.
the only thing to do is simply ignore the service also, it seems that with the caps in place, they are planning to maintain overall int'l bandwidth whilst increasing total subscribers to achieve a 'planned' bandwidth/subscriber ratio in order to maximise profits at our cost |
