Ok here are some problems on capping. Who will answer?

- How much bandwidth does IPTV takes if yo use it 24/7 the whole month? More or less than 60GB? If less, how about IPTV being in HD which requires more data to be transferred?

- Don't forget there are a lot of software updates almost weekly for windows and the plethora of softwares installed on our system. These add up.

- Emails with attachment. How many MB per mail daily?

- Gaming? Not just gaming alone. The patches, the add-ons, the chat that goes behind the games. Don't they add up bandwidth? What if you have a console game machine besides a PC hooked on too?

- Notebooks and mobile wi-fi devices?

- For 1 person it is hard to max out the 60GB limit. But if you have 2 computers with just these few things being done daily 60GB is definitely not enough. For RM149 for 5MB is high. But if you share for 2 computers it is just nice as it is like paying RM77 each with 2.5mbps speed. But even then 30GB per pc cap!! Yes still better than P1 20GB cap. But damn modern PC is all bandwidth brother!! Whats the use of getting high speed when the speed ends in a blink? Its a blardy freaking carnival ride!
*
- IPTV runs on a seperate bandwidth, nothing to do with the cap. But the cap is already suspended now anyways so... whatever.
- Yes they do.
- No idea how big an attachment for a file you can throw in on an email.
- Again, yes they do.
- YES, they do.
- How hard is it to reach 60GB lol? It sounds alot, but trust me it isn't.

One more good reason for their CS

CS : "Uh... Encik, your monthly quota has reached the limit, so that explains why your internet is so slow... "

I totally agree with you.

The people who wants the cap to be lifted should go back and think about your selfishness. The cap suspension will increase bandwidth consumption. More bandwidth consumption, the higher the price. The higher the price, the more brats coming here to complain expensive.

For your information, 60GB is MORE THAN SUFFICIENT. No one asked you to surf youtube. No one asked you to download songs. No one asked you to download movies.

Aiyo... Times are changing... As we move forward, so will the contents on the internet... Soon, we will have things like buy ori movie from internet, streaming sports from internet legally downloading mp3 (from iTunes and Amazon who also sell downloadable original movies, clips and etc...)... The whole world is slowing moving away from the "CDs" and "DVDs" days... Now people buy contents online... CD sales dipped as digital download increased... Its a fact...

Besides, is there anything wrong in surfing YouTube??? Either you hate YouTube because you work for a pro-government media, or you are Rais Yatim's close associate who shares his view that Internet is Evil crap... lol!

I do admit, a cap could be a good thing.. Humans want freedom and yet cannot live with it as they will create chaos... But at the same time, don't offer caps that ridiculously ripping consumers off... lol!

Not sure... But my friend went to UK, told me that in UK, they have services that offer high download speeds, but very low upload speeds... This is to curb piracy (as in uploading illegal contents)... lol!

The thing is, there are still people subscribing for these packages. It is about time for consumers to show their power in Malaysia. Boycott would be the best way.

I don't mind about capping the BW. But please, with RM149, I don't think it is reasonable despite of 5Megabits/sec conn symmetrically. 60GB are easily reached for a household consists more than 3 computers, alas mobiles or desktops.

Furthermore, Malaysians starting to purchase things off the net recently. My mother, for an instance, usually watch those dramas over the net via youtube and whatnot. At the same time, she is surfing to MAS, AirAsia and co to lookout for affordable deals from time to time.

People, it is time to make ourselves heard!!!

Why is there no boycott when Astro says you need to buy a 2nd decoder to watch 2 channels simultaneously ?
If you want >60GB shared between more than 1 user, get a 2nd account. or a higher package ? Far fetched ?

My opinion lah: Greed and fear. A knee-jerk reaction.

Well, if the united malaysian front for "I-want-to-download-more-than-60GB-of-patches-linux distros-email-youtube-a-month" (snigger) can "overturn" TM's capping decision,
I'd like to see what they can do regarding the Astro issue.

Well written. One reason streamyx is slow is because of download leechers. Kiasu attitude and self centred.

If there is a buffet, these same people would wallop everything from the long table. The cap helps to keep it fair for all. No one gets more and no one gets less.

he forgot to mention there's daily cap in his blog post

Reminds me of :-

Boycott Astro Max

Boycott Call of Duty MW2

Boycott Left 4 Dead 2

Trust me , its not going to work. You can try. TM will just execute plan b. Well lets advertise no cap and then screw up users by providing slow speeds. Once most of the users realise that they have been rick-rolled by TM , there would be a lot of users would say that the cap is a must so that they can enjoy high-speed broadband (my POV that is).
