Hi Folks,

I have written to Panasonic Malaysia regarding non mentioning of the S Series in the 25th march 2010 press release. In other words the 2010 S Series will not be launched in Malaysia.

Below is my email to Panasonic Malaysia. I encourage interested folks to write in. Maybe you all can highlight areas I have not mentioned.

Thanks

Dear Sir,

Good day to you. I hope I am not troubling you too much as I am sure you are a very busy person. I apologize in advance if I have.

Anyway what I want to mention here is regarding Panasonic Malaysia not bringing in the S Series 2010 replacement model for the 2009 S Series Plasma TH-P42S10K FullHD TV.

I noticed in your 25th March 2010 press release that the only 42” FullHD Plasma TV in the V series is the TH-P42V20K featuring the enhanced VIERA CAST service with Wireless LAN Adaptor ready on its USB port, video call capability2, SD Link to view JPEG digital still images and HD video recorded on an SD Memory Card; VIERA Link, a PC input, two USB Ports, 24p cinematic playback,600Hz Sub-field Drive (produces 1080 TV lines of moving picture resolution), Infinite Black Pro display with 5,000,000:1 native contrast. Because of the enhanced features I am sure the 2010 TH-P42V20K is not an entry model for a FullHD Plasma TV like the 2009 TH-P42S10K. And for sure it will definitely cost more – how much more is left to be seen.

I would like to appeal to Panasonic Malaysia to bring in the 2010 replacement model for the S Series 2009 TH-P42S10K model as what the US has done replacing the S1 with the S2 model. I have read in some forums here that loyal & new customers are scouring high & low for the 2009 TH-P42S10K which I think is completely out of stock and most probably knowing the 2010 V Series will be more expensive with the enhanced features. Now that the 2010 S Series is not mentioned in the 25th March 2010 press release, it is one big disappointment to them.

I am sure Panasonic Malaysia practiced CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) aggressively, so it will be a nice gesture to entertain the wishes of the loyal & new customers.

In line with the spirit of 1Malaysia People First Performance Now, I sincerely hope Panasonic Malaysia will at least consider our request. In Bahasa Malaysia it will be Satu Malaysia Orang Pertama Prestasi Sekarang - minta tolong menimbangkan permintaan orang ramai.

I understand that Mr. Jeff Lee Wee Leong is the person in charge but since I am unable to get his email I hope you will kindly forward to him. I got your email from the press release.

A reply will be very much appreciated.

Thank You Very Much & a good weekend to you.

Thanks

A loyal Panasonic Customer since 1970's.

P/S,
In the email I mentioned my full name & hand phone number.

The person I email to is Mr. Ho Lip Kee, Manager, Digital Audio Visual, Tel: 03 7809 7686 Mobile: 012 3866788
Email: lipkee.ho@my.panasonic.com

I got the info above from the press release.

What are you looking for them to address? A specific press release for Malaysian sets?

i hope for Panny plasma aficionados [ since Pioneer bowed out from plasma, which is a sincerely sad decision they made I believe, since the Kuro range still beat most LCDs up to now, dunno about the LED tv's lah ] will be rewarded with the new Panny plasma range coming out this April. I really wish they will eliminate the issues plaguing the current range that is well - posted here and in AVS forum.

@jitbeng, many thanks for the initiative. Good petition email. rclxms.gif

@thena123, I understand that Panasonic has a class action against it in the US on the rising black issue. No more public statements on the issue until the case is over.

yes, that would be ideal. Reassure people that the Malaysian sets are fine and if any rising blacks occur, customer can get a replacement.

Being a big company and well established in Malaysia, Panasonic should come out with a press release to ease the worry faced by many prospective Panasonic buyers.

It will be tough to do. The rising blacks is by design. If people do not complain, in Asia they will not make a statement.

What do we do if we spend our hard earned money only to realise several months later, problems occur?

If that is your main concern, then the only advice I can give you is to steer clear of Panasonic plasma TVs for the time being until more verifications can be obtained.

I don't think Panasonic is going to shoot itself further in the foot by issuing more statements that can be harmful to its sales ("it is by design" biggrin.gif)

Personally, I feel the rising black problem is more of perception and expectations. I don't remember if they ever used "infinity black" as a marketing tagline in Malaysia?

whatever said, most likely and unfortunately I will buy Panasonic as it is cheap. Where nowadays can get 42 inch for RM2099 (now 2299)?

Just use few years then throw in bin lah.

Those are exactly my sentiments. And I think Panasonic knows that too and hence, the "right" pricing.

Good hunting, bro.

owh, so that means even the new plasma range that's coming this April or so is still plagued with the probs in the AVS forum kah? aiyayai! i just placed the new TH-P42V20 / TH-P50V20 / TH-P50VT20 into my budget for my next year 1st quarter expenditures lol [ since the prices would be cheaper by that time ]. blush.gif

I normally don't buy things that last a life time.
Unless it is a very expensive thing like Rolex automatics? etc.

Other than that TVs, AVRs etc etc even cars, just buy as can afford, use them to max & than just resell/discard them.

Some cheap things can really give you good service & in a few years time, just throw/recycle them away

Thanks

I was told that Panasonic will be showcasing its 3D tech in the upcoming KLIAV Show. Sony will be doing the same as well.
