Do u think the SAMSUNG PS50C7000YR will cost more than RM 7000?
Cnet states a price of USD 1800.

Its hard to buy a Panny with the black level issues.
*
I called Samsung careline and they also don't know about the C7000's availability and list price... yawn.gif

The darkest black that the set can produce when fed with a 0% stimuli pattern. The lower this is and the higher the white levels (100% white), the higher ur contrast ratio.

lamdogkc,

but the screen is still glare type, rite?

or ... there's any anti-glare coating?
*
It's still glare but if position it correctly it's not that obvious

From my short viewing at Harvey, correct me if I'm wrong, it seem to me that Samsung's reflection is more than Panasonic, or is it because of the lighting & positioning at shop?

Also, I noticed Samsung PS42C450 has "clear" reflection image whereas the previous model PS42B450 has somehow double-image reflection. Does anyone encounter this or it's just my eyes wrong viewing?

yes, but what we see on the first day may differ from few months of usage down the road. So, the opinions on the floating black issue is very important. Lucky I read this thread, otherwise I would not know. Special thanks to Anfieldude.

Anfieldude can you pls, for everone here, explain in lay man's terms what this floating black is all about. I went to the avforms link but cannot comprehend.

Does it mean it will become grey after a few months from black?

No. Floating blacks means, that during some dark scenes the brightness will suddenly increase. The dark areas will change in brightness depending on the scenes.

The Rising Blacks issue is the absolute black level (meaning ur darkest blacks) will rise with time.

Thanks Anfieldude. But I am moving towards Sony LCD now. I am disappointed with Panasonic's quality. For tens of years, I have been an ardent fan of Panasonic but lately I see, their stuff don't last. My Panasonic fridge gave problems within a few months and my panasonic washing machine, only 5 years, have died.

Once upon a time, my washing machine, lasted for 20 years. It was then "National".

So, after hearing all this rising and floating blacks, I am now giving up on Panasonic brands. Buying a Toshiba washing machine and a Sony 55 inch LCD.

C6500 might not even make it to our local market as it is not registered with energy commision, yet.

Very well said and I totally agree. I was once at a crossroad try to decide between Plasma and LCD technology. I got myself even more confused and harder to make a decision and I kept going back and forth on both of these technology. Each has its good and bad side. Then I finally made up my mind after speaking to some audiophiles who are into home entertainment and I finally went for the Plasma technology and my choice was a Panny - P42X28K and I must say that I got value for money.

Isn't it the same with the Panny G20? They can't be forcing 3D down our throats. Did they forget we are earning RM and not SGD. How frustrating!
