new X series plasma cannot play AVCHD video files in their SD slot. Going backward in technology?
*
Its not going backwards in technology, however, it is reducing features. The pricing for the 2010 X series intro pricing is almost 25% off compared to the 2009 models. Something had to give. Also while the ability of playing AVCHD using a SD is good to have it does nothing to improve the PQ. I believe Panny took it out as they must have figured that most BD players are capable of doing it anyway, so why the redundancy.

The 2010 models are a step forward in tech compared to 2009 models.

I have seen calibration charts of the newer models and they are an improvement compared to the 2010 models. The problems are floating blacks.
Floating blacks can be calibrated out albeit not completely.

Lower black levels (approaching Kuro 8G, but it will deteriorate with time), better colour accuracy, brighter whites. This is based on the S20s. I believe the X is not so popular in the US as its not full HD. The one annoyance is the gamma is still tracking lower!

I will see for myself when I get the chance to calibrate one in about a months time. However, I am pretty sure that they will be a step up compared to 2009 models in the areas I mentioned.

any review? better than X10k ?
*
never check x10 so dont know how to compare
but the only dif is the remote control X28 have PC/TV/AV, but X10 hav SD/TV/AV
so far i have not to view any 720P source yet the highest is 480P and it's quite good quality for this price.
I dont notice any reflection except when off the tv.
the smoothness of'cos can not compare with full HD (the price also expensive) but still i have not try 720p yet

just came back from "the" shop.

towkey shown me the brand new x28k, offering me RM 2880.

actually im looking for the x10k but he said, x10k no longer available or maybe out of stock right now since the x28k introduced a month ago.

however....my q is, is it x10k are good plasma to buy?

my prediction, if x10k are good, so the x28k must be better even though it is cheaper than x10k.

Yes, 13G Panny's will have the same issue, but the rise in blacks are more gradual.

Will u be able to see it? Yes if u look for it, but mostly only in dim/dark environment. For brighter environment, it might not be so apparent.

Aiyoh, cannot afford Kuro la.....

Honestly, I don't intend to spend too much due to rapid technology advancement, may be change TV on yearly basis. So I'm looking for best budget deal.

Actually the main reason for me to get my first Plasma is for the up-coming Worldcup. My eyes really cannot tahan fast moving things on LCD, also somehow I don't seem to "see" more natural colours on LCD.

I'm not really worry about IR since I won't use it for gaming or computer stuff. Even with static channel logo, I'm hoping that the latest technology can help to "erase-off".

But from my short viewing at Harvey, correct me if I'm wrong, it seem to me that Samsung's reflection is more than Panasonic, or is it because of the lighting & positioning at shop?

Also, I noticed that PS42C450 has "clear" reflection image whereas the previous model PS42B450 has somehow double-image reflection. Or is it just my eyes problem ??

Can someone help to re-confirm this ?

So buying a Panny is a no-no, and the new Samsungs have lousy black levels. What's left to buy? If I get a LCD, then I run the risk of having a set with black-light clouding which is the ultimate disaster. How about a Sammy B650? Is that still a good buy?

Bro Anfieldude, yes I did read about that in AVSforums. But it was not stated if the Sammy's 2010 models are worse than the 2009 models?

My new pad will be ready in 2 weeks and I am shifting in before the end of May. I may not have the time to wait for the C6500 to arrive and could just get last years B650. I believe the S2 will also not arrive before then. Or I could fork out a little more for the C7000... rclxub.gif

Anyways just for the benefit of others, here's the list of PDPs registered with Malaysia Energy Comission in the year 2010, so we should be able to see them soon. No luck on Sammy's C6500 and Panny's S2. sad.gif

Do u think the SAMSUNG PS50C7000YR will cost more than RM 7000?
Cnet states a price of USD 1800.

Its hard to buy a Panny with the black level issues.

for lay people like me, the word calibrate scares me. All we want is plug and play straight out from the box. Wah, panasonic sudah jatuh standard lah, I might as well buy Sony LCD. Looks nicer also
