Okay smile.gif

By black levels you mean how "black is black" right?Any idea how to test for black levels in TV shops?

And is "black levels" related to dynamic contrast?Like white and black together rclxub.gif

I was so tempted once by the LG plasma but then I saw burn-in on the demo unit and that is it.

Btw, IR is image retention.

Guys can teach me how to detect all of theses things?I don't have much experience "telling how good a panel is" or "how good the PQ is "..

What is burn in and Image Retention?

I thought burn in is like "burning in speakers"?

Image Retention happens when you leave a static image eg ESPN logo on the screen for too long and as you switch to other channels etc, you get the ESPN logo marking still on the screen. It will slowly go away. If it doesn't go away and its stuck there permanently, then you have the ESPN logo Burn-in to your plasma screen.

Some plasma are very easy to get IR eg the LG and the Samsung plasma(didn't mean to discredit them, but this is what I see from experience). Just leaving a static screen for like 30 sec already got IR. Panasonic plasma are quite resistance to IR so far from my experience however some user claim the panasonic have Burn-in too.

Oh now i see..thanks for the useful info

Urm..is the Burn In permanent?Or it will go away after a while

Reading this i'm a little scared to choose plasma now.How about Panasonic's plasma? And yeah does the legendary Kuro Plasma suffer the same fate?

Else, i might go for LCDs

I have been using my Panasonic 5o" Plasma model 50S10 for more than 6 months now and so far I have not seen any IR yet. So I would say Pana plasma is very resistance to IR.

Not sure about the kuro
