Anyway for those who are interested in building HTPC , I've written a simple guide on using pi as HTPC and as well as configuring XBMC to stream a lot of content

Ace, you're machine configuration are better and same components as my HTPC. I can stream DTS HD and TrueHD via my Yamaha Amp using XBMC. You're problem seems familiar, on the sound output only works 2.0 without issues. Is the AMD driver.
*
Thanks all.

I sorted out my problem.
I tried numerous times to update the AMD driver for the Graphics card and it kept failing.
The AMD website kept saying it was the wrong file for my OS.
Anyway, I went and bought a cheap graphics card online. While waiting for it to arrive, I tried one last time to update the driver.
And, suddenly it worked. Always kena like this...buy new and then the old one will decide to work.
So, with the update, the card works well now.
I get Dolby TrueHD and DTS Master now on my AV.

Also, I installed Plex Media Server into my PC based NAS and use Plex Home Theatre for my HTPC.
Also there's mobile apps for iOS and Android too if you wanna pay for it. Haven't tried it though.

Thanks again.

For your mobile decvices, you probably want the Plex but for your HTPC with the Radeon card, it's already powerful enough to direct decode and playback movies from your NAS.

Good that you solve the problem, the bad that you bought a new card and now more likely kept as spare or re-sell.

Anybody know how to get 5.1 sound from XBMC when playing AAC 5.1 format. For DTS I can get 5.1 but AAC 5.1 I only get 2.0 sound from my HT.

hi guys,i need some advice here.Recently i am starting to keep some untouched bluray BD-ISO but sadly to say my AC Ryan HD Mini2 does not seems to be able to play the ISO image file,so as for my Sony S380 BDP.
I however do have a PC which i want to use for my HT which is not the best performance but is an AMD dual core 3.2GHZ CPU,4 GB DDR RAM & Gigabyte HD5670 GPU with HDMI out.
So what software or player do i need to playback the BD-ISO which can bypass the HD Audio and let me Denon 4311 AVR do the decoding of the DTA-HDMA/Dolby True HD to my 5.1 system?
I am planning to hunt for an Oppo BDP93 but currently this is all i have, please help. Thanks

By right if your PSU is the 500W pure power, no issues at all. Get a UPS unit just in case blackout since you are using a few HDDs at one time. JMHO😀

I had the same issue. To fix this, u have to set your "Audio Output" to HDMI. If you are using optical/coax, don't worry, changing this will not affect your ouput driver.
After this, XMBC will convert correctly from AAC 5.1 to DD 5.1

I just plug in my Apple Mac Mini using XBMC to run BD-ISO on my HT system and for those who are new, here is some settings you need to do on the OS X settings.
1. Go to system preference -> sounds ( there will pop up a window box and first setting is sound effects, choose the ' play sound effect through' to your AVR name
2. Go to Output and select your AVR name
3. Go to XBMC and in the audio settings choose Audio Output to HDMI

Then we are all set to enjoy decoded DD 5.1 from AVR.

One thing I am not sure is why it can't decode DTS-HDMA as my ISO has the audio imbedded on it? Can anyone explain what I am missing?

Anyone using their HTPC to watch 3D movie?

My projector is Optomo HD66 so it only support 3D by DLP Link using OpenGL Stereo. So far the only video player software that can get 3D is Bino 3D, but this software update is damn slow.. and got very annoying bugs when display subtitle. Anyone else know any other software that can send the correct 3D signal to the projector? Or is there a way to configure MPC to send the correct signal? How about XBMC? Does it support 3D like Bino?
