Not sure where should I ask this. Can I buy only the remote control? It's for my Pioneer HTZ-787. Are there any compatible or master control for this model? unsure.gif

Best to give Pioneer Customer Service a call. If all else fails, could opt for a Universal Remote? blush.gif

A little help, please.... notworthy.gif

My BD player(LX52) is 48bit Deep Color capable. I had it connected to my amp (LX52) and to the KRP500.

For some reason, it states 36bit on the TV panel instead of 48bit.

Did I miss something? rclxub.gif

Thanks. This is odd, why would Pioneer want to build BD players wherer their own top of the line TVs cannot support? hmm.gif

Just got my KRP500A calibrated by anfieldude. He arrived around 3:45pm and left around 8:15. For those wondering if calibration is worth it, I would say definately. Quite a bit of a difference from the 'movie' mode and ISF day / night. Switching back to movie mode show a much dimmer picture and more noise. Haven't had much time for critical viewing as I'm catching up with 1/2 a days work and some personal matters, but had a quick viewing of Transformers 2 and I noticed the black levels were better ( evident in the black bars )as well as greater color definition - colors were more natural and vivid yet not harsh. He even did a quick calibration of my older Pioneer 427XG which I will seriously consider going through with ISF calibration after I've finished renovating the top floor. It was a pleasure chatting with him too. Guys, quickly book anfieldude's time as he's a busy man smile.gif

It was a pleasure calibrating ur set. The ability to get up to 50ft/L for the B.Yond channels and still preserve the Drive Modes makes football pretty bright huh!

This is the 1st KRP-500A I have calibrated as SyriuS is one of the 1st to contact me a long time ago. A few more to go. The set behaves pretty well and boy could it go bright! Although, I think the ISFNight that I targeted at 35ft/L is also bright enuf in my opinion and pretty much spot on colour accuracy, makes viewing a good experience.

The Ms can go as bright but in the ISF modes the DriveMode is fixed in 1 and is not suitable for fast moving action.

Enjoy ur set. I believe urs is the 1st set that I can go up to 45ft/L on a 8G without serious clipping!

Short review on the KRP-500A.

This was the 1st set I calibrated. There were 2 things that stood out.

1. They can go to about 50ft/L. In Movie Mode, u r hard pressed to go above 35ft/L without clipping.

2. The Asian KRP-500As are not the same as the KRP-500As in the UK/Europe. They are more similar to the LX5090 in UK/EU.

Also to confirm, the Ms calibrate better than the As. The reason is simple, the controls available in the Ms for greyscale and gamma allow finer changes compared to the As. The As go from -30 to +30 for greyscale the Ms go from -60 to 60. So that tells the story.

I can get a very flat greyscale on both, but the Ms do it even flatter. The As firmware seems to be similar to the 8Gs, whereas the Ms have only 1 firmware worldwide.

The As can go very bright in the ISF modes and the advantage is the ability to go to 50ft/L for 50Hz settings and being able to set the Drive Mode to 2.

The Ms in the ISF modes can go as bright but the Drive Mode is fixed at 1 in the ISF modes. So this is a bummer, but there is a workaround. This is mainly for Astro.

Another reminder, turning on any Energy save messes up the gamma curve, more so in the ISF modes. I would advise turning it off, unless u hv a buzzer. I saw 2 sets and both were relatively quiet.

I shd be down in KL in a couple of weeks to do the next round of calibration. For those interested, pls PM me. To those already done so, I will confirm the dates later.

I am currently using 819. Was thinking of changing to 919. Is it worth to change ?
