As i said earlier. I have lost faith in Fabianski. No matter how well he perform, he will never impressed me again. The first goal was a basic goalkeeper skill while the second goal was the refree's fault but it could be saved.
Players like this should be sell or release. Fed up but happy with Sol. Welcome back Sol Added on February 18, 2010, 10:09 am QUOTE(CrOmer @ Feb 18 2010, 10:05 AM) I thought our keeper coach is Seaman. I read some article some time ago saying Seaman coached our keepers.Keown is our defender coach This post has been edited by ivanau88: Feb 18 2010, 10:09 AM |

still, i fancy gunners to win the tie at home ... both goals also gifted to porto ... next game at emirates when almunia and gallas are back, can't see porto will get those lucks and weird decision ... the referee is the 1 that missed henry handball against r.ireland ...

QUOTE(sakaito @ Feb 18 2010, 09:29 AM) i watched the 2nd goal and was like WTF? Fabianski should've hold on to the ball until the ref asked for it. That's his error. u already caught the ball.. hold on to it la. haiya... bro, Lukasz did hold onto the ball until the referee asked for it. as i said earlier, we lost this due to our own stupidity but on their second goal the referee was practically a Porto player seriously, GK needs revamp. Fabianski has been a disaster ever since he arrived. 2 years and a lot of important games he cost us. time to cut the loses and invest in someone else. I'm all for promoting Don Vito to 2nd place behind manny. |

QUOTE(sakaito @ Feb 18 2010, 09:48 AM) yep... walcott too. haih.. so many things wrong yet we're still in it with the away goal. a 2-0 in at Emirates will be good enough and i think we can. 1-0 would be good enough. We have the away goal. but seriously, Denilson... what happened? Fabianski Never really rate Denilson. I think he's just a flop. Really thought Vito was so much better GK than Fabianski despite his age. |

Wenger had more than enough time to get a goalkeeper but he chose not to.
Surely Given would have come to Arsenal, Sorensen too, maybe even R. Green Porto was nothing special. We merely gave them the win |

Sol proves he still got what it takes. eventhough he don't have the pace, but his positioning sense broke down a lot of plays. arshavin and eduardo.. please come back this weekend. Song too. I don't think we can risk losing anymore points in EPL. Denilson has been a disappointment this season. ok.. having said that, we are in a good position because of the away goal. it should've been 1-1 had it not been for that stupid goal. |

Technically, there is nothing wrong with the goal, nor the actions of the referee Martin Hansson. There has clearly been a transgression of law with Sol Campbell's backpass and, once the referee has awarded the free-kick, the rule is that advantage is immediately given back to the team who have been wronged.
In the spirit of the law, it can be argued that the defending team should be given an opportunity to regroup before the kick is taken, but that responsibility falls to the players. Fabianski could have held on to the ball or thrown it away - as we see so often - thus risking a yellow card but ensuring that Porto would not be able to take a quick free-kick. As for the role of the Porto players, how many times did we see Thierry Henry take a quick free-kick during his Arsenal days under Arsene Wenger? Most memorably, in an FA Cup tie against Chelsea - and we didn't hear his manager complaining then.It could perhaps be argued that Hansson's positioning prevents Sol Campbell from making an attempt to get back, but that doesn't make the referee wrong. West Ham and Chelsea fans will remember a similar situation involving myself in a Premier League match some years ago, when I was standing between the ball and West Ham's goal, and then stepped aside to allow Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink to take a quick free-kick, which flew past David James into the net. Looking back at it, I admit that my positioning could have been better but, in this case, Hansson hasn't blocked the view of the Arsenal goalkeeper and, by, asking for Fabianski to hand the ball back, cannot be accused of taking the Gunners by surprise. Hmm... when referee signals for an IFK, the referee will keep his hand up until after the ball has been kicked and touched by another player. And according to the video, the referee did indeed raise his hand.
But according to the video, the referee looked to be interfering with play, hmm... but he doesn't block the GK though. So, that's a tough one. As for whether the referee did blow the whistle to signal for the free kick to resume, that's not necessary. So, actually... from my POV, Porto caught us sleeping... i just accept that we lost becuz of fabianski's mistakes....i wont blame the ref...if it goes our way we wont complain...when it goes against us why should we complain...i dont want to become a hypocrite...liverpool fans has a better case against us...just accept it..and hope that wenger give vito a chance...our 1st and 2nd GK are crap....at least rosicky was showing what he can do...denilson cant perform in big games...he can only play with lower tier club....

Got to agree with Dashken. Even the ref didn't see that coming. It was a smart move for Porto to have the 2nd player running up so quickly to receive the ball. Is there a rule that says the ref has to wait for the wall formation? I don't know. Henry used to ask 'politely' to take an early kick and the ref let him took it before the wall is formed. So, I guess, there's no clear rule on that. All that I know is, we need Mad Jens at the Emirates right now. Not to guard our goal, but to slap Fabianski senseless on the head.
