I might play with her most of my time since all my tarantula are aggresive type |

QUOTE(kemek @ Feb 23 2010, 06:55 PM) thanks for the reply. Looking forward for it.. My first wild glider took me 4 months to get her to trust me. She STILL bites me occasionally XD it depends on the glider too.. sometimes they can adapt fast.. some may take longer. Dont let it discourage you, keep bonding tho So far she doesn't look very tame. QUOTE(djazmy @ Feb 23 2010, 11:00 PM) Hello sg expert! I recently adopted 2 sg last friday in kl and melaka. Im in johor btw.. Hi djazmy, of coz u r to be worried. Coz the female joey is supposed to be still nursing with the mother for another month. It has not learnt to eat solid food yet at this time.I have a problem with one of the joey. Its a female and 4 weeks oop. The trouble is she seems not eating well. She eats some of the baby food(pear) buy only from ny finget and licked off some of the apple slices but not so much. She doesnt even touch the hpw diet i made with some fruits slices and vegs.. Im getting worried here.. What should i do? Thanks! As for whoever that might be posting and asking again, joeys that are underaged or bought earlier than 2 months OOP, shud be handfeed with Wombaroo Milk Replacer or Pet's Own Milk. And again to remind those who doesnt understand the terms OUT OF POUCH or it's shortform OOP : please take ur time to digest this. Glider pregnant for 16days. Then give birth to joey(s) the size of a rice grain. The joey(s) will crawl into the mom's pouch and nurse for 2 months in the pouch, this is the time the joey(s) also known as IN POUCH or IP joey(s). Becoz of the joey(s) keep growing and wont fit inside the pouch anymore, joey(s) will be nursing for another 2 months outside the pouch. This is known as OUT OF POUCH or OOP. So the safest age to get joey(s), is when the age is 2 months OUT OF POUCH. This also means the age is the same as 4 months old from birth (if u r so lucky like me to see glider gave birth THREE times with own eyes). Why 4 months? answer = 2 months IP + 2 months OOP. Any joey(s) being bought/underaged shud be fed with those i said on the above. Cheers |

Wow.. so many underaged gliders lately... The earlier you adjusted back to the proper diet and housing, then the bigger chance they can survive. My Money used to be very underaged, but now she is doing really fine.
Again, it's pretty normal for underaged joey for not eating much solid food or even HPW. Because they are in weak condition, their body and stomach still developing and not ready to take that kind of food yet. Go for milk replacer, it's more digestible for underaged joey. Met amanda today, i guess his gliders will be fine, because at least i can see he putting effort in learning how to take care of the gliders. Keep it up ~~ |

QUOTE(dreak89 @ Feb 23 2010, 11:10 AM) hye all Normally males start showing their bald spot at around mid of 5 months to 6 months old but it is not very obvious. If you have a female, it will become obvious at around 6 months plus. long time did not post here want to ask,my male already 4 month now.. and i can see his testicle.. but he don't have bald spot on head yet is it normal? i want to know if my male matured or not coz i'm planning to neuter him next month.. According to Dr Jenny, a glider can be neutered as long as the testicle has dropped fully. Meaning the little furry scrotum is no longer sticking close to the body but hangs out a bit. QUOTE(dreak89 @ Feb 23 2010, 04:19 PM) actually,i buy a pair glider..and i'm afraid both of them are twin.. Ask your vet some questions like how many gliders he has neutered. Many vets practice in zoos but then they don't really have a lot of knowledge on gliders because our zoos rarely have any. And your glider should be a healthy weight too. that's why i want to neuter the male.. i found one vet in penang, told me he can do neuter male glider.. he also work with zoo before n want to look at my glider first to make sure it is ready or not. can i trust him?? he seems like have an experience with suggy.. QUOTE(kemek @ Feb 23 2010, 06:55 PM) thanks for the reply. Looking forward for it.. It will take time. You first need to gain her trust. Handfeed and do touching first, before you move on to handling. Step by step should be the key and avoid spooking and scaring your glider coz she can get scared easily. Adults that are not tame get scared easily. So far she doesn't look very tame. How long will it take to tame it? I might play with her most of my time since all my tarantula are aggresive type QUOTE(armand_adli @ Feb 23 2010, 10:10 PM) lol,ok kelvin. Good good. Now keep them warm and give feeding every 2 hours. Should be fine.thanks for all ur help. getting the hang of it. i have purchased milk replacers for them, feeding them bit by bit,but they dont like it. tomorow im taking them to the vet at aman suria. QUOTE(djazmy @ Feb 23 2010, 11:00 PM) Hello sg expert! I recently adopted 2 sg last friday in kl and melaka. Im in johor btw.. Stop babyfood. Jar babyfood has little nutrition. It's just full of water, vitamin A and C. Babyfood will just make your glider full but not give it nutrition. You have to use a milk replacement. Get the joey milk replacement that is sold by petshack. You shouldn't be feeding solid food to underage joeys. Naturally joeys start eating solids at 6 weeks old. 4 weeks still too young to digest fruits and veggies properly and it can cause gas build up. Read the link babyvey previously posted. There is no short cuts. Also, underage joeys do not know how to feed themselves. So you shouldn't put a bowl and expect it to eat itself. A syringe or spoon should be used to coax a joey to eat. Underage joeys should be eating every 2 to 3 hours.I have a problem with one of the joey. Its a female and 4 weeks oop. The trouble is she seems not eating well. She eats some of the baby food(pear) buy only from ny finget and licked off some of the apple slices but not so much. She doesnt even touch the hpw diet i made with some fruits slices and vegs.. Just like the above info but 8 weeks... That means she didn't wean properly from her mom. Could be she was forced and separated from her mom when she was underage. Coz joeys learn how to eat from their parents. So you have to do like how we feed underage joeys. Coax her to eat by handfeed. |
