I would not say that there is a problem with not having a bald spot.. Just give it more time k 

some males gliders don't have visible bald spots..mine their bald spots are slightly visible when they are about 6-7 months old..then i took them for neutering

if you don't have a female, the bald spot may not be as obvious as those males that are paired with a female.

i put my wheel high up coz i feel they prefer higher location but it's ok to put at the bottom..your cage door cant really see...for DIY cage the challange is the door...if not secured properly the smart sgs will escape easily...door need a frame and a hook to lock the door
