I bought Compaq CQ35-331TX @ 2199. 24 mths instalment

Intended to cancel the order since noted this overheat issue http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1338843

Wonder it is because of unit problem or this model.

May consider Dell 13.

Current consideration:

Dell Vs Compaq

In house warranty Vs DVD ROM
More light Vs Dedicated display card
Better support Vs 500 GB HDD 7200rpm

Which one you will consider?

A42Jr = 14" and no numpad
A52Jr = 15" with numpad

Spec-wise, both are the same just that you have choices between mobility & bigger screen nod.gif

ati 5470 is at entry-level of DX11 so asus is slighty better.

T6570+HD4330 for better gaming performance
i3 330M + Intel HD for battery life

Though if you want better gaming performance, consider Asus K40AB, amd + HD4570@RM1899

Define how good is good?
Good as high-end card, nope.
Acceptable performance for its price given? yup.

SSD alone can eat up RM 1K++ already....
Left RM 5K for budget,
15'': can consider Asus G51Jx@RM5.2k at mucro.asia, Dell Studio XPS 16, Acer 5942G@RM4799

16'': can consider Asus N61Ja@Rm4999
17'': If SSD can be forego, Asus G73JH@RM5.8k, one of the finest notebook for its price.
http://www.mucro.asia/index.php?/Asus-Note...s-G73JH-A1.html
18'': can consider Toshiba Qosmio X505-Q870 at mucro.asia, RM5.2K

RM 6K is not enough for 15'' above Alienware + SSD...

Well, can't really judge by brand, but model can. Lucks do play a part here also...
You should be safe to go either with one of them, since their performance is not really that big gap and if their build is still the same with their predecessor, I can say its quite good...
And Asus do offer 2 years warranty though... and not much complaint from toshiba l510 series in this forum...

not necessarily...the sticker or label might just say Windows 7 or Windows 7 ready...but it just means it CAN run Windows 7...better make sure it comes with it...

For the Asus K52JR and Toshiba L510-S4318B, both have genuine Windows 7, no version with FreeDOS....

Hope to see some good recommendation from you guys smile.gif

Budget : 3-3.5K
Processor : i5
OS : windows 7
Warranty : extend to 3 years international warranty (in particular UK)
Graphic Card : Dedicated graphic card, integrated are a serious no-no smile.gif
Ram : 4GB
Usage : for Autocad and Engineering programmes. Gaming include Napolean : Total War.

Won't be using it for high end first person or third person shooter games. I only play strategy games such as the one mentioned above.

currently looking at Acer 5740G and Dell SXPS16. Seems that others are debating about Acer's graphic card performance, while Dell is a little pricey at around 4k range.

You better take Dell Studio 15, upgrade the warranty to 3 years to make it international..

As for the Acer, its International Traveller Warranty kinda have tricky requirement....
