Hi, is flashing the radio necessary for CM5.0.5.2? Can I simply skip that procedure? Reason is, I have read many problems from users who have tried to flash their radios (not able to start, hang at boot, etc).

Also, been doing a bit of reading but cant seem to find an answer for this. Whats included inside Google Addon. I understand its optional, but what are the benefits should I choose to flash it into my N1?

Shahz, how is the 3G reception on CM5.0.5.2?

And CM5.0.5.3 just came out...whoa.

No necessary to flash the radio because I heard the latest one is no different than the old one.......if you want to flash it, make sure you understand the instruction and do it carefully.

Google Addon will include all the goggle default application such as Maps, Talk, MP3 Amazon and others. The CM mod can run with or without all these default applications......if you want to include these applications, just flash the addon after you completed flashing the radio and rom.

Compatible with 3G on AT&T (U.S.) and Rogers Wireless (Canada)
Supports three 3G/UMTS bands (850/1900/2100 MHz) and four GSM radio frequencies (850/900/1800/1900 MHz)

Compatible with 3G on T-Mobile (U.S.)
Supports three 3G/UMTS bands (900/AWS/2100 MHz) and four GSM radio frequencies (850/900/1800/1900 MHz)

Sure? Pick the one for AT&T? THe only difference I see is :

AT&T Supports three 3G/UMTS bands (850/1900/2100 MHz)
T-Mobile Supports three 3G/UMTS bands (900/AWS/2100 MHz)

I thought original N1 for sale was for T-Mobile only, so that must be the one that you guys have.. this AT&T looks new..

Let me know soon, wanna order my N1 TODAY =D

Thanks guys!!

Radio is not neccessary if you never facing any signal issue, anyway current latest radio seems no different also.

Google Addon is a must for Cyanogen ROM, or else you might facing cannot login to google account.

ERE36B and EPE54B is basically same. Not much different.

At the moment, only CyanogenROM version 5.0.5.1 and above (latest is 5.0.5.3) can show correctly the build number as EPE54B.

It's depend on which proxy you are using. When I purchased my n1, I used Singapore proxy. Thus, I was only seeing one option which is unlocked version of n1. I believe you must be using US proxy thus seeing AT&T and T-Mobile options. However, I am not sure what's the different between those model. If you purchase AT&T and T-Mobile, not sure it is fully unlocked that you can use it with local service provider here.

chewlf, you're right, i'm using US proxy so I can see both. After reading a few inputs from google N1 forums, seems the right one to get is T-Mobile, but AT&T can also work here.

Malaysia uses UMTS 2100MHz so I'll just get the T-Mobile one.

Thanks!

Even though T-Mobile is using the same band frequency as Malaysia, however, you need to make sure it is not locked to T-Mobile service provider only. Otherwise you still can't use it with Maxis, Digi or any other service provider.

Hope you will get your N1 soon. I am sure you will have a lot of fun with it. thumbup.gif

Woah..The Android addiction is really lifting off..I'm spending almost half a day everyday replying on forums now..haha..But I like to see smiling faces and the smell of success when someone achieves what he's trying so its all worth it biggrin.gif I'll keep following up as hard as I can..

Great post Shahz. Now if you'd be kind enough to slip in some links to app2sd and the latest recovery image 1.7.  smile.gif  Anyways, I'm holding onto to my CM5.04 till there is a clearer picture on 3g issues in CM5.05

Thanks bro, but the links are all on cyanogenmod.com forum. Upon landing on this page, you will automatically know where to go. Its very straight forward biggrin.gif

great guidance  shahz! i just switched back to desire a19 because somehow i feel the other rom is kinda ..erm empty?

actually i am thinking to sell off my nexus because i'll be getting another nexus from my sister's company in few weeks time.. so for now i would like to try other android device to compare hehe..

and suddenly my nexus performs so well for eg the battery now can last more than 1 and half day where it used to last for just a day.. haha
*
Yeah, its totally up to you actually Either run a simple and fast linux, or run a beautiful, but still fast MacOS. I have decided to go with cyanogenmod since he needs requirements for his apps2sd (special recovery system) so I will only wait for cyanogen's desire rom. I know it will happen one day. I've played HTC Hero enough already, so I'm not craving for SenseUI anymore. But if I have it, why not smile.gif
Also, we will have our very own Malaysian kernel coming up soon on our community board. This kernel is developed by our Malaysian programmer and its one of the fastest you will find. Reason is, it does not include many dev apps that some of you may not even use at all. Thats why its light as a feather and fast as lightning. The menu scroll is incredibly fast and the boot screen flashed less than 3 times before the phone loaded. Really fast smile.gif
We will release it on the community forum though. Its officially our product there. Yes, its free of course. happy.gif

So far the 3G has been excellent for Maxis around Wangsa Maju and Port Dickson. Even my GTalk is always connected and I randomly get GTalk messages almost everyday. Im not sure about other networks and locations though. Wireless is very location-dependant.

I'm getting the N1 in a week; and after lots of reading it seems Cyanogen's ROM is the way to go, even improving stock performance. Before committing myself to any modding however, I want to understand certain things. What exactly is a recovery image for? I understand the concepts of rooting and using a new ROM, but I am not quite sure where the recovery image sits in all this. Is it similar to a boosted version of the Windows boot-screen options?

I'll go off topic and remind everyone what a wiki is. In general, Wiki is a collaborative effort. A Wiki will fail to achieve its purpose if there's only a single author. Might as well call it a blog. In short, should a wiki is setup, all of us should find some ways to contribute to it. If you feel there are errors or an entry is incomplete, edit it. If you feel the wiki is in need of certain articles and you have some knowledge about, start an entry. Dont worry about if your knowledge is inadequate or what you have written is not entirely accurate, others will come and rectify it.

Come on guys, we cant just rely on Shahz, we need to step up. We are Android users. Our culture is different from other closed-sourced platforms. We share, we contribute and we thrive. thumbup.gif

I 2nd that we can't rely only on shah to do everything, we android community should share everything we know to all, so everyone can contribute something if you have knowledge or information to share.

Why get a second battery. You have to remove the cover to replace the battery. Get this from Brando. I did. It works pefectly. Some more 1900mah. Reasonable shipping charges also.
