thanks!
cause from what i read online, they're saying that the normal time is around 28 days, but i was guessing all these info might just be slightly wrong.
1) Where do you get your information online?

2) If its from a government website, what makes you think they're giving wrong information to you?

QUOTE(angelsien @ Aug 14 2011, 11:16 AM)
and also i've gotta apply for a superannuation account with my TFN so im kinda in a rush to get all of the things done before assignments and other workload start kickin in!

really appreciate your help biggrin.gif
*
You don't need a TFN to open a superannuation account, and once you do get your TFN you can give it to your superannuation fund. If you're not working yet you don't need a superannuation account. More often than not your employer will just put your contributions into their superannuation fund of choice, (usually with little or no input from you) regardless of what you have, and you'd have to manually change it to your own preferred superannuation fund.

oh really? *jot some notes* . how's their prespective towards malaysians? arent they being racist towards foreigners?
what kind of allergies? care to tell me more?

my heart is shouting for melbourne but i dont know if it is because that i only hear a 1 sided story by those who live there, havent heard much on brisbane..

Allergies that leads to endless sneezing. With regards to "perspective towards malaysians", i guess it really depends on how you regard yourself. The fact that you have decided to spend a few years in Australia means you would want to experience a new culture, without losing yourself. Good luck in your choice. Btw, Melbourne is apparently the food capital of Australia! smile.gif

As for food, I don't come to Australia for Malaysian food. This is not to say I do not have moments where I do think of the familiar tastes of home (having Chef Wan on Masterchef didn't help, and I don't even watch Masterchef!), but I don't actively go out and seek Malaysian food.  This is not to say that I would turn down an invitation for a meal with Malaysians (can't wait for raya), but seriously, what is wrong with the local palate?

*
I'm fine with Perth's local western delicacies and I have it pretty frequent. It's just that I miss Malaysian food for the first few months abroad. I don't actively seek Malaysian food either unless friends invite me out to join them. Unfortunately after going out numerous times with my friends, Asian foods mainly Malaysian food in Perth is pretty much a joke, maybe not for Japanese.

I don't know if its me, but i had bad experience with certain things here like when i opened my bank account it took longer than usual for my card to come(was told it was 3 days or smth if i remember correctly) and i had to call them after a week to remind them and wait for a couple of days more for it to arrive. it was pretty inconvenient as i deposited most of my money in. rclxub.gif

I was actually planning to open the superannuation account in commonwealth bank actually, and their website says i would need my TFN no?
Different in my case i guess, my employer asked me for my superannuation account number so i assume i have to open an account my own.

Far more friendly than most random people you meet around in KL. At least for me during my 6 months here, I've never encountered any racist attitudes. In fact, I dare claim that there are more racism back in Malaysia, especially the subtle ones.

EDIT: I meant for Melbourne. I am told this might not be the case in other states in Australia

racism is anything but subtle in msia.....it is official policy.......everybody can identify many areas of different official treatment and entitlement of msians, based on ethnic grouping......that, in case people don't know, is racism.....

in fact, most msians feel more free and accepted in oz.......they don't (it is illegal) treat you different because you are of different race (or religion, sex, gender preference, etc)........

To all commerce students studying in Australia right now:

How many of you would reconsider coming here if accountancy is no longer on the skilled occupation list? Just curious to know the numbers.

http://www.theaustralian.com.au/higher-edu...x-1226116368418

And to recent commerce (or more specifically accounting) graduates seeking employment in Australia, I would really appreciate it if you could share some insight into the current market for accountants in Australia.

Racist like what most people think?

Having lived in Australia for years I have to say that Malaysians (even when overseas) are far more racist than Australians. Seriously, racial harmony is so much better here than in Malaysia, despite what Malaysia likes to advertise itself as.

I would strongly advice against deciding your course of study in Australia on potential migration pathways.

Australian immigration changes their rules like people change shirts. And most course are 3-4 years long, A lot can happen in that time, and the rules that were in place when you went in will more often than not have been modified beyond recognition when you graduate.

Occupations are taken off and on the SOL list regularly. Also, keep in mind that the occupations on the SOL do not necessarily reflect what is truly in demand in the job market. While the SOL is influenced by lobbyists in the industry, simply having a occupation on the SOL does not mean it is "in demand" by the workforce.

Finally, keep in mind the new rules stipulate that all potential migrants need a IELTS band of 8.0 across all modules.

It's weird, but they really do... I guess the lawmakers work hard...

Do you mean an overall band score of 8.0? Because 8.0 for each section would be unreasonable at best.
