Sempron 140 only have a TDP of 45W
Prescott P4 TDP is more than 80W and slower than Sempron 140. I will definitely opt for Sempron... |

Guys , isit possible for me to revive a P4 system .
Something had gone terribly wrong with that system. When bootup . The usual intel pentium 4 logo should displayed but it showed 1 black rectangle at the center replacing the usual intel logo. Dead MoBo or Dead Proc ? Dont have another unit to test >.< |

QUOTE(raymond5105 @ Nov 23 2010, 11:05 AM) Why still with Vista? Can go to Win 7already. gotta agree with u..If wanna change system now,can go for Sandy Bridge already. Your problem is a bit odd with different amount of RAM detected with different VGA card. I think this is not the fault of VGA card but the lame Asus P4P800-X. i have tested to change some setting on the BIOS and the RAM reading change.. i change the VGA aperture size also will effect the ram.. and it seem like the board can only be stable to a max of 2G ram.. if more than that, I cant get the actual reading of it.. |

QUOTE(edministrator @ Jan 7 2010, 09:52 PM) northwood 512kb cache. prescott 1MB cache. how to overclock the p4 northwood cooler than prescott. generally prescott can overclock better than northwood. to answer the question which is better; actually both same in day to day usage basis, clock to clock comparison. |

Increase the FSB of the proc, once it hits a wall (BSOD/restart), increase the Vcore and go higher on the FSB
But of course, not just blindly increase the FSB as you need to check whether you have the option to lock your PCI/AGP bus to 33Mhz/66Mhz and and how high your RAM can go as well. Keep it at FSB to DRAM ratio of 1:1 for a start |
