I hv a Malaysian itunes account but there is no iPad apps in the Malaysian store yet...

I've "try" downloaded a few from there using Msia account.

it doesn't, but I think the ipad is missing some pretty fundamental features in its basic model such as a camera (front facing would be great), MULTI-TASKING, and there should be at least 32 GB on every model. Or at least an SD card slot, its 2010, not 2000!

basic model....? come on, it's just the first generation...

camera on iPad...? I've read somewhere (forgotten the source) that Apple's hiring someone to oversee the implementation of a camera possibly on the next gen iPad.

At least 32GB...? Too bad you're not the one manipulating the flash memory market.

SD card slot...? There's a camera connection kit for the iPad. And SD card slot will make the iPad form factor unfeasible...

Why? I have a Nook ereader, its smaller then the ipad, it doesn't have a color screen, however it does have an SD slot, 3g, and wifi. If they can fit all that stuff in a macbook air, they can definitely fit in an SD card slot. They just don't want too because they want people to upgrade their devices when the newer models come out.

Yes and Apple has *never* been about how many features they can squeeze into a piece of hardware. It's against Steve Job's philosophy. It took half a decade for the FM tuner to be integrated into the iPod and it's still not available on the iPod Touch for example.

While I don't agree with it most of the time, I think people should just realize that and get over it.

Really? I have both US and Malaysia iTunes account.

in US iTunes Store, iPad apps only appear in the App Store together with the iPhone apps.
However, in Malaysia iTunes Store, only the iPhones apps appear... Weird, eh?

Just got my iPad. What a brilliant device! Absolutely loooooooooooove it.

Just get as many as you can afford. LOL!!

My rule of thumb is always go for more. Your needs will only grow. And media file sizes only get bigger and bigger as people demand better quality PQ and/or SQ.

As for how long do you wait before you can an iPad, 2.0 is almost always the better choice. The jump from 2.0 to 3.0 usually isn't that great. The learning curve for product designers/developers after 1.0 hits the market is tremendous. A simply example would be the wifi issue on the iPad that was prevalent in the US. There's only so much testing that can be done in a lab. But once it hits the real world, that's when the real results come in.

So 2.0 will be a huge leap forward from 1.0, but after that... it'll just be minor upgrades and maybe 1 or 2 (if we're lucky) innovative features with the next gens, but most of the time...upgrades will just be a faster processor, more memory, etc, etc. The mundane stuff.

I bought a couple of games and apps for the iPad via the Malaysia Store and Pages (*part of the iWorks suite) via the US Store. For the Malaysian store, you basically have to search for the iPad games and stuff. So say when you search for IM+ it shows up as both an iPhone and iPad App.

another Steve Job's philosophy is 'Apple don't do CHEAP stuff', which explain why they won't be any Apple netbook in the near future .

I didn't want to buy an iPad. Pooh-poohed the device. Thought the people who asked me to buy one while I'm in New York had more money than sense...

Bought two (the limit allowed to me when I was at the AppleStore in 5th Avenue), witnessed the crowds that were there buying the iPad (and this was a few days AFTER the launch) and have been playing with one over the last few days.

My impression: Apple is going to sell a whole lot of these.

Yes it needs a camera, an easier way to get files on and off and all these will be addressed in a future release. And yes, if US499 is a lot of money to you, you shouldn't be spending on a toy like this.
