btw, regarding borderlink, anyone have any experience whether $599 is nett or it will be taxed by US?
*
irwan, have you tried shipping anything electronic via borderlinx? I've done non-electronic stuff only, biggest concern is possible SIRIM delay for it...

I have a US credit card so at least I can avoid the borderlinx concierge charges.

I usually handle my own shipping. So far everything is okay, including iPhone and nexus one. I haven't try borderlink yet. Usually only radio based devices got held by custom. I never tried laptop though.
*
OK sounds reasonable. I'll wait until you've received your package then I'll order mine biggrin.gif

Borderlinx via DHL is only $30 per kg compared to Fedex's $90 per kg. Both are before taxes/duties which is why I'm more worried about SIRIM/taxes/duties rather than anything else

So send via DHL/Fedex/UPS. Guaranteed sampai but also guaranteed high shipping costs biggrin.gif

Why not just wait if you don't want to pay for the shipping costs?

wait for who?
i don't see any1 will be bringing this to malaysia
first of all it's not a phone , so no telco will bring in
it's not a laptop , i don't think machine will bring it in ..

anyway i'm not getting it for personal use , want to profit .. hahhaha
*
It's the most hyped about product in the past 6 months and you think Machines or any other Apple reseller won't bring it in? Hahaha that's funny biggrin.gif

If you want to bring it in for profit then you must have lobang, otherwise you won't get much profit. But good luck!

Added on March 28, 2010, 10:38 amAnyone interested to do an iPad order with me? With the shipping, a 32GB iPad wifi will cost close to RM2500 assuming no troubles with kastam/sirim. PM me if you're interested.

I'm planning to do a bulk order but it's not going to be cheap. Figure around RM2200 for the 16GB and RM2600 for the 32GB version. This includes DHL shipping to Malaysia plus all the necessary taxes but it does not include any SIRIM charges (if you're unlucky enough to get charged).

Anyone still interested please let me know although shipments will only arrive towards the end of next week.

I can do COD but I need at least a RM500-600 deposit. I'm not about to order stuff without some security biggrin.gif

With apple's delay in shipment (check out store.apple.com/us and click on iPad), the earliest everything will get here is by end of next week.

Need to think twice eh, 500 to 600 deposit. Have you trade before here?
*
Yes I have traded before. Was dealing with the iPhone (2G, 3G, 3GS). Last transaction was two weeks ago with stringfellow and his PS3 game, also from the US.

If you have a better idea let me know, the deposit is just to cover the DHL fees, I'm not trying to make a lot of money on this, just thought someone might want to tumpang since I'm already getting some.

btw let's take this discussion on PM if you're still interested.

Fedex.com can give you an estimate. Roughly it's $150-200 for 4kg (2-3 iPads) depending on how you package it.

I have several arriving on Monday!

bro tishaban, u bring in 2-3 units, custom will kacau bo?

Ya your price sounds right, maybe a bit more.

I'm hoping kastam won't kacau. My last shipment (PS3 game) was a bit delayed but nothing significant...

@irwan6179 did you have any problems?

very easy, switch to us itunes then download a free app and make a account, the creditcard info select none. the rest just put fake us address detail
*
This seems to work too, certainly better than the workarounds I've been suggesting before.

irwan, thanks for the info. How big was your shipment? I only dared to put 2 in a box using Fedex which should be in by Monday afternoon/Tuesday morning.

that the sad case here. you are familiar and with friend, but how about other people? haha... is good to said that you can claim but not all the people here, right?
*
Dude, I have a suggestion for you, don't buy from the US, buy from Malaysia. Complaining about it here won't solve your problem and won't convince other people who are willing to buy from the US.

Ask for yourself, what is the main purpose to get one. Are you depend on it?

Ah hahaha. If I asked this question every time I bought something I'd be cash rich and gadget/car/house poor biggrin.gif

I'm getting one for my wife, might get another one just for the heck of it.

Don't plan anything now, wait until June because by then the Malaysian Apple Store may already have iPads for sale.

so Malaysia is one of their "International" countries? look at how long did Malaysian waited for the iphone to be available locally. I think in end of May should be available in Europe, Australia those countries first
*
That's why I said don't plan now, plan later 1 week before the nice lady comes back. At that point everyone should have an idea whether the Malaysian iPad will be early or late.

My bet is the 3G version will be quite late.

I don't want to know the kind of problems the ipad will run into....anyway we all know 2nd gen will have more features so it will be best to wait, unless you are filthy rich.
*
And the 3rd gen will have more features than the 2nd gen and be more reliable too. And the 4th gen will have even more features. And the 5th gen. And... and....

WHEN WILL IT EVER STOP? biggrin.gif

Why? I have a Nook ereader, its smaller then the ipad, it doesn't have a color screen, however it does have an SD slot, 3g, and wifi. If they can fit all that stuff in a macbook air, they can definitely fit in an SD card slot. They just don't want too because they want people to upgrade their devices when the newer models come out.
*
Yes and Apple has *never* been about how many features they can squeeze into a piece of hardware. It's against Steve Job's philosophy. It took half a decade for the FM tuner to be integrated into the iPod and it's still not available on the iPod Touch for example.

While I don't agree with it most of the time, I think people should just realize that and get over it.

Im also exploring the possibility of interested parties purchasing it from Apple Store online and ship it to my hotel address there. I've done that for video games purchase through Amazon and it worked just fine. Otherwise I'll have to scour LA Apple Stores fir the items.
*
The US Apple Store won't accept non-US credit cards. Even with US credit cards they have some algorithm to scan where you're shipping to, I couldn't have an iPad sent to Borderlinx/DHL for example, the order was immediately cancelled. If it's anything from the Apple Store online especially an iPad you'll have to do it at an Apple Store.

Amazon works fine though.

Enjoy LA and dude, when are you jumping???

My bro confirms that you can pick up the micro-sim now if you're using it for your iPhone. The deal us only for current iPhone users and it is basically data only, it is capped by your iPhone data cap. Which means you are getting one simcard for iPhone and another micro-sim for RM25 to be used with the 3G iPad using the same iPhone line. Two sims running on one singular number.

Bear in mind that the micro-sim can only access data. No radio telephony or voice/call capabilities.
*
brilliant, Maxis did a sensible thing for iPhone owners. I'm so tempted to "upgrade" to the 3G version...
