I don't know about you. I entered YTLPOWR during its prime since last Nov at 2.51. I don't even want to count what is my paper loss now, it's too crazy. Im thinking the another entry point. But the question is, how attractive the dividend yield will be?
*
Probably not good for you... expected only 0.094 divvy onwards, so at your bought price.. 0.094/2.51*100% = 3.74%, almost equivalent to FD at bank... not to mention the capital loss... sweat.gif

Almost everyday they sell some shares except yesterday. Maybe turnaround or could be just taking a break.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Employees Provident Fund (EPF), the second largest shareholder of YTL POWER INTERNATIONAL BHD [], disposed of 30.13 million shares from June 30 up to Aug 4.

Filings with Bursa Malaysia showed the EPF’s stake was reduced to 729.17 million shares or 10.09% from 759.31 million units or 10.51%. The 30.13 million shares accounted for 0.42%. The share price was trading from RM2.20 to RM1.97 as at Aug 4.

The largest shareholder is YTL Corp with 44.98% or 3.275 billion shares.

Maybank Investment Research said YTL Power was likely to record better than expected 4QFY11 results on reduced fuel cost at PowerSeraya.

“But, with dividends curtailed by its Indonesian expansion plans, widening losses at YES and potential reduction in tariffs at the Paka & Pasir Gudang IPP, its appeal as a high dividend yielding stock is waning. Downgrade to Hold with a reduced TP of RM2.10,” it said in a report on Aug 4.

The research house said it came to understand that the RM681 million cash raised from the 15% stake sale in PT Jawa Power will likely go towards bidding for a 1,000MW coal fired IPP in Indonesia.

“Also, YES is recording average revenue per user (ARPUs) of only RM30, the minimum monthly charge (versus our FY12 assumption of RM49) despite up-selling efforts. With a RM500 million cost base for YES, YTL Power is likely to conserve cash,” it said.

Maybank Research said the government’s recently set-up MyPower Corp to review existing power purchase agreements (PPA) is evidence that it is serious about reducing IPP tariffs albeit in exchange for concession extensions.

“We estimate that Paka and Pasir Gudang IPP generate some RM400m in free cash flows (FCF) per annum and easily contributes half of YTLP’s dividends. With this FCF source under threat, YTLP is again likely to conserve cash,” it said.

The research house said it maintained its earnings estimates pending 4QFY11 results but slashed its yearly dividend per share forecast from 13.1 sen to 9.4 sen.

YTLPOwer no longer a safe haven dividend stock. But I buy this stock with a forecast that YES will do well for the coming future. Time well tell. Good luck to all of us the YTLPOWER holders.

As much as I give thumb up for YES service,
I doubt any wireless BB for near future can even balance the book.
Draining less cash already good enough.

This is how share market reflect a personality, a wise person might buy this stock at a low price to bet against its future, if it turn out favourable, he will rewarded with a good profit

Anybody know also know YES drain out lots of cash but actually they are making loss due to depreciation on telco infrastructure, only a handful people know accounting terms. So if u got knowledge on accounting, it is a upper hand for yourself before investing.

Good luck to u icon_rolleyes.gif

I believe the Yeoh family will expand their business when time is right

EPF probably pause their selling due to lower pricing after the recent Sell-off. Whether they will resume after the stock recovers back above RM2 is the question.

this is the stock I would argue an "dividend trap" stock.pay excessive dividend just to please investor since 2009.At last what they done is issue more debt and issue more share. so people earn from dividend but made loss from capital . by huge cash outlay into YES, if they don't want cut more the dividend, be ready get loss more from your capital. good luck YTLPOWER investor. thumbup.gif

Ya, it is definitely not a good entry price for me. The yield is not that attractive due to the slashed dividend and not to mention my capital paper loss. As I've said, I will just keep it in the freezer and wait for it to rebound. Back to my earlier remark, I bought YTLPOWER with a speculation that it's YES will perform well .I hope my patient will be rewarded, or at worst, I might just cut loss in the near future.

With the expected dividend.. 9.4 cent, the fair value of share should be worth about 1.90-2.00 only. Unless the dividend is increased, otherwise it will not likely to reach your price. Also YES is expected to lose money for the next 5-10 years. How long can you wait? wink.gif

I wonder when the next general meeting is? Somebody should direct these questions to the CEO. What is he going to do to inprove YTL share prices? Improve YES earnings? And future projects?
