Thanks for the explanation bro. Yup, Astro's website says they're liaising with building owners to upgrade, it'll take 18-24 months. sweat.gif

Time to contact my building management and push them to upgrade immediately. I hope Astro will help to upgrade the centralized infrastructure for free as with other individual customers. One building upgrade means it will cater to hundreds of houses so it make sense.

Maybe it is very hard to change for condo. I don't think new dish (this point of view need check) can use with older decoder, otherwise the old dish not need to change lo.

So, that mean, in order to change the old dish to new dish, you must make sure all the residents in that condo upgrade their Astro to Astro B.yond. Building Management and Astro will facing new problem, the normal Astro users will conplain that their can't receive the signal after upgrade to new dish. tongue.gif So, do you think you can persuade all the residents live in your condo upgrade to Astro B.yond together and pay extra RM20 after April 2010? sweat.gif

So, I think the easier way for condo to upgrade to Astro B.yond is to install a standalone dish. I think this method is easier than persuade everyone in the same condo to upgrade all together. Alternatively, force Astro to come out new dish that can be used by both normal Astro and Astro B.yond.

my understanding is that lnb head is the same for old and new dish, the only difference is the dish size, so sd and hd decoders can both share the same new dish

But the problem is that most condo management does not allow resident to install their own dish..need to use centralize dish..

In this case, just hope that normal Astro can use the new dish otherwise you have only 1 option left, force Astro. tongue.gif

Problem for 1080i. What is the technical difficulty for Astro if want to broadcast in 1080p assuming their can get 1080p source. hmm.gif

there's no hdtv service in the world (which i know of) broadcasts in 1080p...because its a-lot of bandwith and if a little cloudy cannot get signal one...but anyways...i'm happy with 1080i..........if got EPL matches i swith=ch to 720p...biggrin.gif

and b.t.w : the size of the astro decoder is half the size of the old black decoder

i am watching my Astro B.yond now, the picture quality have been enhanced, the only problem is the sound became very low, normally i can open my tv volume around 20, but now even 30 are still no clear... is it i must use an home theater system to get the higher volume? my sound setting is stereo audio/digital, not 5.1, why?

now even i watch on xing he channel, the quality is better too, really no bad!

maybe it's all the matter of bandwith... 1080p needs a lot off bandwith... sweat.gif

Just been told the LNB and cable for Astro Byond is the same as SD version. So some installers did not replacing the cable to save the time and trouble.

But if your current cable is more then 3 yrs old, I would suggest you all request the installer to replace the new cable for you since it is free.
