the last minutes of the extra time was the most dramatic moment i ever seen in this world cup, suarez twice have goal line clearance and then send off for hand ball and gyan then miss the penalty.
after this match the uruguay team must have believe it is their destiny to go all the way, to have survive two goal line clearance in the last seconds and then a penalty to win in the shootout. ![]() This post has been edited by robertngo: Jul 3 2010, 05:30 AM |

QUOTE(hosiery2u @ Jul 3 2010, 01:42 AM) Melo thoroughly deserved to be sent off for trying to stamp on Robben. Playacting or not, he shouldn't have done it. I loved how Fabiano rolled around at the slightest taps and then had the balls to mouth off to the referee who rightly ignored him. Serves him right for his shit-eating grin when he scored that handball goal. Now I just need Germany to send Argentina out crashing so that someone can finally shut that self-righteous bag of fart Maradona who seem to can't stop saying stupid things to the press. Props to Uruguay and Ghana, the match of the tournament thus far. Wasn't very clean, but the late drama made up for it. |

two missed chances made the differences for Brazil....Juan's over the crossbar finishing and the save from Kaka..if not it will be 2-0 already...
dont see how it can be linked to betting.... happy suarez
the new hand of god, what would maradona said http://www.smh.com.au/world-cup-2010/world...00703-zuo5.html taking one for the team, he looks like playing volleyball there ![]() ![]() if anyone say this is cheating, i would say anyone else in the same position would have do the same thing, the ball is going in and there is absolutely no time find an equalizer, saurez have to make that foul to give a life line to uruguay, and ghana blow their own chance by missing the penalty. I Quote myself from the Man Utd Street talks:
QUOTE for me, in football cheating means to trick the officials into giving favourable decisions to himself or the team. the best example is DIVING, when you go down without contact and try to trick the referee into thinking it is a foul to get the opponent carded or sent off, or to get a penalty, then that is cheating. But for fouls like this, i think it is called sacrifice. They are not out there to trick the officials, they know the consequences of their action very well. But they do it anyway to give their team every inch of chance to win/not concede, even if that means missing their next game. BIG BIG difference with cheats like diving, or feigning injury. Suarez is indeed the hero of Paraguay. beating South Korea through a late goal which is such a beauty, and now this. This post has been edited by pyroboy1911: Jul 3 2010, 04:07 PM |

Nah, he is just butthurt. Typical Anyways, Suarez is a true hero last night. It's similar to a professional foul, FAR from cheating. People are mad not because of the actual hand-ball, they are mad because the foul was "only" punished by a penalty and a sending off. What do you expect the referee to do, award Ghana a goal? It is not in the rulebook. The only thing FIFA can do is probably tack on a lengthy suspension on Suarez for "unsportsmanlike behavior".

why ppl keep blaming Suarez, he and Uruguay already get punishment
this is different thing with Henry and Maradona hand ball where both of them and their national team didn't get punishment |

QUOTE(robertngo @ Jul 3 2010, 08:25 PM) That is why it is wrong to be mad at Suarez. If anything, FIFA needs implement a drastic punishment for deliberately stopping a goal scoring. Goal scoring, not goal attempt. IE, the goalkeeper was already beaten.Suarez knew the punishment would be a sending off and a penalty, possibly even no punishment if the match officials didn't see it. He knew the punishment and decided it was worth it. And he was right. It's FIFA's duty to make sure such situations won't arise again. What about if a striker had defeated the defense, rounded the goalkeeper and made his shot towards the empty net but then all of a sudden a crazed fan ran into the pitch and stopped the ball from going in? What then? |
