in world cup 1974,

1) germany player missed a penalty kick in regulation time (uli hoeness missed it against poland)
2) italy eliminated in group stage
3) netherlands defeated brazil
4) the reigning euro champion, west germany won in the final (west germany were the euro 1972 champion)
5) their opponent in final: the netherlands

the facts no. 1,2,3 and 4 happened for the last time in 1974.

suddenly in world cup 2010,

1) germany player missed a penalty kick in regulation time (lukas podolski missed it against serbia)
2) italy eliminated in group stage
3) netherlands defeated brazil

now the reigning euro champion, spain go to the final, and their opponent in final, no other than..... the netherlands

is it a good omen for them?

if the netherlands lost, they will be the worst team in world cup final history coz it'll be the third time they lost. and no team ever lost 3 world cup final without winning once. for record, germany are the only team lost more than twice in final (in fact - 4 times) but they winning it three times

trivia: spain just scored 8 goals in 7 games, which is the fewest goals scored by world champions. in fact, they amount they scored is half than the german's score which is 16
