Thanks in advance everybody.
sniper has provided a good explanation on how to focus manually.

Yeah but problem is that it's slow even on the fastest system.. you can check youtube for examples.
Refocussing it manually is just like turn turn focus ring on the lens like your old SLRs... only easier as the video is shown on the LCD (liveview).
Situations such as kid running around.. forget AF video.. it's not fast enough and when its HD resolution... its will show.

That could be a bit of a problem.. I don't think any of the camp have wide angle prime for crop sensor.
My usual carry-everywhere setup is an entry 550D body + a Sigma 30mm f1.4 (= 48mm) + 55-250mm tele. Still looking for wide angle solution though.

if your kid is running up down left right centre go far go near your lens, i doubt, as an amateur videographer, manual focussing can do a better job. even pro videographers might have a bit of problem for that matter.
if you are recording something moving moderately fast in a straight line without changing the direction or distance between the camera, i think the AF still can cope.
oh, and one more pros for the EVF, you can record videos through the view finder as well
