Ramly burgers, but not all are equal. Some of stalls cook them nicer than others. I used to love the ones in Bandar Tun Razak (near BHP station) and Kampung Baru (near the 7-11), but I don't know if they are still there. Nowadays, I usually get similar ones (not Ramly but some other brand.. "Otai" I think) in Desa Sri Hartamas. I don't eat them as much as I used to, after finding out the Ramly burger meat is made up of about 20% fat! |

X.x QUOTE(mumeichan @ May 25 2009, 06:12 PM) Don't bs. In US Wendy's sells mostly beef and ppl buy mostly beef anf there is nothing spectacular about any of their chicky stuff. I can't speak for everyone but when I was in the US and went to Wendy's I usually ordered their chicken nuggets (since they came with BBQ sauce). For beef burgers I preferred the local diners (except when I lived in California where I went for In N Out), and ate the house burgers. I avoided McD, BK and Wendy's burgers unless I had no choice. |

SS15 has a popular one, near Asia Cafe. I think the VAN serving wan. i haven't go, friends ask me to go the other day but i already tired la. SS2 PJ you can go this one http://www.buurps.com/2008/07/mizi-burger-enak-rasa/ NICE!!!!! ----------- as for fast food - I'll go KFC OR Fillet burger, if not also Wendy's triple beef! BK's mushroom swiss is nice. Carl's? that one i went 2 years ago, never went back. some people like, i didn't. even Wendy's i went 3 times, but in the end decided that going Chilis / TGIF is still best. get to eat proper beef, can set to medium-rare some more. with better service. McD? that one i only eat when i have nothing else better to eat. McChicken, Big Mac or Double-Cheeseburger la. This post has been edited by goldfries: May 26 2009, 02:55 PM |

Anyone still remember Arby's? They had some really unique roast beef sandwiches which were yummy. Last I had them was > 10 years ago when I was in California.
White Castle? Those small burgers are really something. Haven't had them since my college days in the US although Harold and Kumar brought back some memories haha. |

Arby's.... now that bring back great memories of stopping by their outlet on Jalan Bukit Bintang (back then the road was a 2-way street) to tapau their sandwiches back home (they are not burgers, but rather sliced roast beef). Didn't see them for ages until I moved to New York.. loved their special sauce and curly fries. Delicious. Preferred it to McD, BK and Taco Bell. Too bad we don't see it here anymore.White Castle? Those small burgers are really something. Haven't had them since my college days in the US although Harold and Kumar brought back some memories haha. White Castle - yeah those tiny burgers.. had them when they had an outlet opposite the old Rex cinema at Petaling Street. Nothing special to me, just a rather interesting concept with the small sizes. A diner at my old university, The White Spot, had an infamous burger called the Gusburger. Double beef patties, a bulls-eye egg (with soft yolk), jalapenos, onions, tomato, pickles, and who knows what else. It was one of those things you would only eat at 3am on a dare from your friends after a night of partying while completely smashed. It was said only the drunk idiots would eat that nasty stuff. I never had it, but I had a roommate who loved it so much, he would have it while sober! Then again, this was the roommate who ate my BBQ sauce with white rice, and spread mayo on his pizza. |

Bangsar chili's is famous for burgers. No doubt. Then there was carl's junior, wendy's. mcd's a&w etc etc and a million more including all the ramli burger in front of 7-11's.
Today i think i found the competitor for chili's burger. its a nice corner lot along solaris mont kiara called Meat house. love their portobello burger ! they sell halal meat too. price wise, i think shud be around the same price as chili's, i forgot how much i paid coz i was happy. anywhere else u wanna rekomen me ? i love burgers ! even ramli burger also i whack. |

if you said your favourite is mcdonald's, you probably have no taste. it was on tv that there was this person who cant eat food because of an illness, so she had to eat through a straw or IV. finally one day she tried mcdonalds and she was able to eat it because it was so processed her body could take it. not only that, but the burgers arent truly fresh or made to order.

QUOTE(lodestar @ Dec 1 2009, 12:56 AM) if you said your favourite is mcdonald's, you probably have no taste. it was on tv that there was this person who cant eat food because of an illness, so she had to eat through a straw or IV. finally one day she tried mcdonalds and she was able to eat it because it was so processed her body could take it. not only that, but the burgers arent truly fresh or made to order. this very deep poetry nothing to do with burger ramli |

Well I had some nice burgers recently but it wasn't in Malaysia. Back in Oct, I had a couple of gourmet burgers in Hamburger+ in London for about GBP6 (incl fries). Delicious... how I wish I could have such gourmet burgers here. The closest I can get here would be Chilli's old-timer burger which cost about RM20.
Sigh.. everytime I compare the prices, I feel really poor, coz we earn so much less here, and our purchasing power is so low compared to many other countries... |

I guess the nearest we need to go to for great burgers, both franchised and local would be HongKong. Triple O's, MOS, Fatburger are some I would like to try during my burger connoisseur next year

On a different note, if you're out for good and cheap baked potatoes, look no further than KFC's. I've only tried the one in their headquarters(KuchaiLama) and it was fantastic!! Oh how i miss Shake Em Buns in Causeway Bay. Their menu consists of titles with sexual innuendos...not a good place for family gatherings |

the MOS i tried was in Taiwan. So healthy =.= they have this vegetarian burger which consist of lotus stem and shredded carrots. They use rice patties with a piece of seaweed.
The sweet & sour beef patty was good. Burger size pretty small. |

For restaurant-style of burgers, Tony Roma's actually is doing a rather good job.
Though their steak sandwich is better. Om Burger is hands-down the sloppiest and now probably most famous (after winning the BEST street burger title) burger joint on the streets. |

Darabif... they have a fairly large stall right at the entrance to Hartamas Square, where the stairs are. They also have an outlet in Damansara Uptown, a shoplots away from the police station. Their burgers come in sets as well. Try the lamb burger.

QUOTE(LiQuiD @ Dec 2 2009, 01:33 PM) When it comes to pork burger, I have to say Hong Kong's 'char chan teng''s pork burger are the best.Heard so much about this pork burger at Cristang. Went there yesterday, was really disappointed with it. I had the standard pork burger with the additional bacon and my gf had the one with spaghetti sauce in it. Overall, it feels like him having RAMLI burger except that its pork only. Its just something you can it yourself at home. I just can't find anything special or distinct to the burger. Overall, very disappointed and it didn't come cheap at all. For the price of RM16.90 upwards (my bill for 2 came close to RM50 including 2 ice water), I would suggest you to get it from your casual american restaurants. Further parking didn't come cheap! RM2 for less than an hour. |

QUOTE(darkages @ Dec 6 2009, 09:48 AM) When it comes to pork burger, I have to say Hong Kong's 'char chan teng''s pork burger are the best. Noted. Haha Kim Gary pork burger still FTWHeard so much about this pork burger at Cristang. RM2 for less than an hour. p.s remember to check 1st page for updated list of burgaasss |

QUOTE(Traveler @ Dec 1 2009, 09:10 AM) Well I had some nice burgers recently but it wasn't in Malaysia. Back in Oct, I had a couple of gourmet burgers in Hamburger+ in London for about GBP6 (incl fries). Delicious... how I wish I could have such gourmet burgers here. The closest I can get here would be Chilli's old-timer burger which cost about RM20. Gourmet? How about the Wagyu beef burger with truffle ketchup (RM105!!) at Prime, La Meridien KL, or the Foie Gras burger (RM55!!) at the Daily Grind, Bangsar?Sigh.. everytime I compare the prices, I feel really poor, coz we earn so much less here, and our purchasing power is so low compared to many other countries... QUOTE(buntutman @ Dec 5 2009, 05:26 PM) Betty's Midwest Kitchen Juicy Lucy and cheeseburgers mix beef and pork in the patties. And pricey compared to Ramli, but only slightly more than McD/BK/Wendy's, not that pricey compared to Carl's Jr, Daily Grind, TGIF, Jarrod & Rawlins, etc..QUOTE(C-Note @ Dec 9 2009, 09:25 PM) wow today mom takeaway pork burger for me for lunch. I've tried the P9 pork burger with kimchi, nice but predictable and maybe overpriced at RM29. They also have pork burgers with tandoori sauce (anywhere else does pork and tandoori..?) or with minced pork sambal petai. Checkout their menu (with old pricing) here: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=1390153&id=48436773793 But the burger with the best value to satisfaction ratio has to be the Om Oblong Special (RM5 only!), which is like 50% meatier and has 50% more glorious sauce than Om's already fantastic regular-sized special. Also worthy of mention is the unique Ana green apple burger at Kemensah Heights near Zoo Negara, reviewed here: http://thenomadgourmand.blogspot.com/2009/...burger-zoo.html http://bangsar-babe.blogspot.com/2009/07/g...ple-burger.html http://masak-masak.blogspot.com/2009/05/gr...r-kemensah.html Bangsar-Babe recently posted on Bob Burger @ Taman Lembah Keramat, also near Zoo Negara. This one has burger kambing and arnab! Anyone else tried yet? |

But when making burgers, you can't have too low fat content, as the natural fat in the meat is what helps the burger cook nicely and taste good. There's also a difference in the quality of meat. I seriously doubt that Ramly burger patties use high quality beef. Not at the price they are selling for, anyway. I've made burgers that are just as tasty using high quality imported ground beef (mixed with partly sauteed onions, coriander seeds, cumin, etc - as per Jamie Oliver's recipe). Costs more but I would say definitely much healthier. But once in a while still get the cravings for that street Ramly burger... variety is the spice of life! |

QUOTE(Traveler @ Feb 5 2010, 10:19 AM) Of coz la there is difference. Oh well, I never know Jamie Oliver recipe works well |

QUOTE(Putraskyline @ Feb 5 2010, 08:14 AM) Haha...If compare to imported beef, then its cheapo lar. I meant expensive compare to Ramly burger. Those 1Pride/Marina Salisbury Steak are priced about Rm8+/4 patty while Ramly can get 10 dirt thin slice for just Rm5+. Of course grind imported meat for burger in Bangsar Grocer/Cold Storage are about Rm9+/100g which mean 1 sliced could be Rm8+. Imported beef from Indian is cheaper than local produce. Current it is about RM12 per kilo. Bear in mind the burger patty manufacturer MUST make at least minimum 35% profit NET!You do the maths and own self figure out what really goes into those cheap burger patties. |

QUOTE(SyedBrix @ Feb 5 2010, 02:18 PM) meatworks in solaris is good it's good but not worth it.i ordered their cheeseburger which is like RM 25. it was tasty but.......... wendy's 3/4 pounder tasted better at far less cost chilis / tgif's burder tasted better at 4/5 the price as well, bigger in everything too. try Betty's Midwest Kitchen. their cheeseburger is pretty much like the one at Meatworks for only 3/5 the price. Added on March 8, 2010, 2:56 am QUOTE(C-Note @ Feb 4 2010, 07:35 PM) i heard good reviews of Daily Grind and even their website looks good. haven't got the chance to visit for a proper meal but yes, so far good reviews. i went there for a small gathering just a month or 2 ago, even their mini burger tasted nice. |

ok. do you know LDP? at LDP there's this catholic church, turn in. follow the main road.
you'll be along the highway soon. you'll pass by Dataran Prima first, further down is Aman Suria. if you go any further, you'll reach Tropicana already. basically it's between Kelana Jaya and Tropicana. Next to Dataran Prima and the NKVE highway. Added on March 8, 2010, 3:51 pmhere's a google map location http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=...8,0.002682&z=16 |

Thanks for the map as I see there are also a few other makan places for me to try out on my next visit to KL. |

TR burgers - saw people try before (friend, sad opposite me) and he doesn't seem pleased.
haven't tried Gumps though but i go Gumps for Beef Ribs instead. Meatwork's burger was alright but i find it not "value for $$$". Betty's Midwest Kitchen's burger is alright, and for RM 15 it's quite some value for $$$. |

Why can't they get it right most of the time! Speaking of Road side burger, for those coming to or in Penang, you may want to try one in Jln Sg Dua in front of Desa University block where there is a 7-11 and BaskinRobbins. They operate only in the evenings and be prepare to queue. Let me know what's your rating? |

My 1 st time having Pork Burger in Malaysia although already tried in Taiwan, manila, & china..
Ninja Joe at Tropicana Mall. Pretty small outlet. Price starts from RM5.50. for simple ninja wth diff topping - teriyaki, normal, sweet & sour or black pepper. I choose the biggest one (RM7.90 + egg & cheese...RM9.90 liao)..OK-lah..for this family biz..If in Taipei..pork burger at McD is the cheapest option liao..haha ![]() ![]() |

QUOTE(stimix @ Apr 26 2010, 04:33 PM) No idea about Puchong but at my place, there are like about 3 - 4 Otai stalls in just a small radius. Tried a couple of them and not by any chance near those great ones i tasted back in those days when i am staying at SS2. The one opposite of the SS2 Police Station still have the best burger i have ever tried, followed by the one at the Fire Station. |

burger is nice but did you guys realize that there are 2 ways of making it?
1. Traditional northern way (some one told me la), the patty will be cut by half in the middle... then they add some nice maggi sauce and other secret recipe 2. Modern way.. lazy fella not even care if the patty is fully cooked or not.. just use the stick to press press press only... I prefer the Pak Ayob Burger next to Petronas Gasing Indah.. |

Not really burger though (they do sell burgers, but I haven't tried because every time I go there I order something else) it's essentially burger meat, minced and mixed together with onions and eggs. yeah..bubba gump is overpriced..not as nice as the Bubba Gump i had in Osaka..Malaysian QC standards i guess..
for burgers the affordable and nice ones is of course chilli's!.. other than that is the ramly stall near my house which is also awesome(bukit damansara area) planning to try daily grind though..any comments on this place? kinda expensive for a burger right..and the fries dont seem to be a lot.. |

There is a burger stall in Ampang selling "burger sepah". They called it so because after u ate their burger u will look messy (bersepah-sepah). The burger sizes are huge with thick succulent patties and massive amount of sauce. Anyone heard of it? I am not sure bout the exact location.

Ramli Burgers are not really good burgers.
Before one can understand burger is cooked than you should be able to appreciate real good charbroiled burger. Question u should ask is WHAT REALLY MAKES A GOOD BURGER?? It's the Beef Patty and Marinades. Good burger must be B.E.E.F. meat. Period!!!!! than the way its crumbles and grill ok. not Pan fry. GRRRRLLLL AMIGOS That's y when i read this thread, OMG so many AMATEURS in burgers praising RAMLI burgers. Good burgers are made medium rare and oilllyy... When i see some of the RAMLI overcooked burgers with little oil (Stingy Burger Owners) and keep on pressing the remaining oils from the patties, it make me sick... Shit Food. MOS burgers are good. If really want to taste good burgers in Malaysia. There is none. Period! Just check out South American Burgers if u really want to know what Burgers all about. |

bro & sis,
not trying to offend anyone but just want to raise the par or benchmark. im kiasu and arrogance too . we learn , right. i accepted who i was and my learnining is still below par. most importantly we accept criticism and change or be different . i raise the bar and ramly burger is still the cheapest burger but not the best one. it's ok for some to say it is the best but u have to guide them to perfection . some of the burger boy can't even cut tomatos and cabbage properly or even cut the burger in half. u see the different when i raise the bar, all these details just cell up in my brain and i warn them not to spoil my burger with kethcup and chili. i go raw with it and no mayo and no bbq sauce or soy sauce. Esplanade Penang near the old gurney. It's basically minced meat with onion and bombay spices. If you like the burger in murtabak style lah.... I still like the texture of it . By the way, most pro burgers maker will sprinkle with water on the burger to moist it and toss one time . that's it. no more tari burger style , flip flop until it burn out and even press out the best juices out. damn i hate these burger makers... copycat burger but don't know what makes a GOOD BURGER. Both are quite a distance apart.By the way, most pro burgers maker will sprinkle with water on the burger to moist it and toss one time . that's it. no more tari burger style , flip flop until it burn out and even press out the best juices out. damn i hate these burger makers... copycat burger but don't know what makes a GOOD BURGER. Speaking of 'no more tari burger style', there was once a Tari Tari burger stall operating along Gurney Drive before they all were corral to the Council Food Court. However, the owner didn't follow and open up his own shop called Tari Cafe, which was unfortunate. See the Wiki on Tari Burger... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penang_cuisine |

With all the add ons, RM26 will transform to something closer to MR35.To be fair, most burgers in Malaysia are not very good. One reason being that most restaurants cannot add bacon to the burger. |

QUOTE(berzerk @ Jun 9 2010, 11:24 AM) Don't forget the charges & taxes. With all the add ons, RM26 will transform to something closer to MR35. Of course they cant simply add bacon to the burger, else I will not go. If beef bacon, then should be okay for me. You have to consider other religion as well because this is not the states. Its personal affordability, to me the burger are worth. To be fair, most burgers in Malaysia are not very good. One reason being that most restaurants cannot add bacon to the burger. |

QUOTE(stimix @ Jun 9 2010, 11:05 AM) Not proper but when its tasted better than the over-rated Carls or even MOS, the compostion of how many % also no good to me.. Sorry bro, i don't want to insult your intelligent . so i apologize first . Ramli burgers patties is a frozen food patties and i feel they are not even close to real burger patties handmade and cook freshly. Just like a healty luxury chinese restaurant serving less oily & no pork oil hokkien mee... U pay premium & saying that's the best liao when an unhealty roadside wth running rats hokkien mee tasted 100% better Because we are use to copycat in malaysia, we cannot see the difference of the good and bad one. People even mistaken original one with imitation one because of the same but in actual its not. I still give Carls and MOS the credit if u have tasted the original one. Some of this chain in other countris modified the taste and you probably don't like the taste. I tasted some burgers in China MAc D and their taste so different than ours. our mac chicken is frozen patties but they use cut chicken meat grill it over with charcoal and marinade with teriyaki sauce. If first time eat there sure think MAC Donald is like that..I asked to confirm they said this is the one ... Anyway, if u still want to prove that Ramli is good , susah lah...u r stuck man.... U r stuck because u stop where it is. I would suggest we as consumer pay more for Premium Beef Patties and get the quality RAMLY PREMIUM BURGER ... Because of the cheapskate mentality , we are stuck with low ingredients for low IQ in food connosuier. So all the Food Franchise gives us the budget we are in. We are bloody cheapskates settling for low quality food. We won't raise above the level. Burger Stall makers just good in presentation of the food like making the egg melt or cheese melt and we buy that... pooh!! shit food!! |

QUOTE(Putraskyline @ Jun 9 2010, 11:11 AM) The best patty in supermarket so far was from either Pride brand or Cold Storage, thats all my preference. First Pride brand belongs to MacFood who is ALSO the sole manufacturer/distributor for McD 100% beef patty.Chillis add bacon to the burger, it is beef bacon. It is just too bad they dun have good quality control to sustain their burger. |

Haha no hard feeling..too many arguement in all food threads.. There was once big war in the fine dining thread till I have to slowly delete all those funy postings...
As I said..taste is very personal, so if u said Carl's & MOS is good, I have to respect you. But so far in Malaysia, my best still Ramly...ehhh I even can tell that it's abit better than the Ninja Joe burger that got hig rating...well personal taste mah...You probably right that diff countries having diff quality of burger. They McD I tried at Shenzhen, Bangkok & even Malaysia is so horrible...but the one in Taipei so nicely done.. Carl's Jr in M'sia got high rating from forumers here & so do Wendy but I just can't finish it!! I remembered there are few food threads here as well...all having diff preferences wan... I once recommended Anggrek Kuring in Puchong to my buddy and they puked after eating the fried ikan Lele which for me is so perfectly done...well u see..diff ppl diff taste bud.. Those who choose to eat cheaper food does not equate to low IQ in food "connosuier". Don't use a word if you can't spell it bro. Shows your level of intelligence. As much as i prefer expensive, luxury food, i'm pretty sure i speak for most of us when i say there are many more times where i know i can pick up a simple delicious burger to satisfy my hunger cravings near my house at night. In terms of freshness and quality of ingredients, no doubt it doesn't compare to your 'premium beef patties'. Some people choose value for their money in eating their food. No doubt a RM 7 slice of cheese might taste better than RM0.70 Kraft's cheese slice, but food isn't just about individual ingredients, its also about chemistry of the ingredients. Give a top hotel chef all the 'cheapskate' ingredients of a ramly burger and he can still make it delicious beyond chilli's burgers. I respect your opinion, but bear in mind that this thread isn't for the best burger in the world, but good burgers covering the whole price-range spectrum, so there is no need to belittle others who prefer a quick fix burger. Always remember that preference in food is an acquired taste. One man's meat is another's poison. So share your info on quality burgers without belittling others. |

TBH, I love eating Ramly burgers
Its cheap and cheerful. Of course a burger from a quality restaurant is going to be better(and by quality I dont mean shitty chillis) but Ramly is quick and simple and tastes good IMO. The Best Burger I ever had in Malaysia was in Sunway Hotel |

Recently had Teriyaki Pork Burger at Kissaten, Lot 10 Hutong. The patty is fluffy and soft. Love it! Kissaten main branch is at Jaya One. Not the collapsed building! And another branch at IOI Boulevard Puchong.
Total damage: RM8.00 not included Govt tax. |

If you guys like cooking your own Burger, try getting Jusco Premium Burgers.. they're really juicy (besides being larger than your normal Ramly).. I kinda dig the Lamb and Beef ones.

Expensive doesn't necessarily mean nice...I tiried before HKD250(about RM100+) lobster burger with foie gras on top, taste like crap. So small. But I guess its how it is since lobster has no taste
Even for most gourmet burgers in Malaysia its just not worth it. IMHO, burger patties are always drier than steaks even if both are medium rare. Taste bland too if the patties are thick eventhough juicy. |

In the states, a qualified steak is at least once inch thick. Only that kind of thickness can retain the juices of a nice piece of beef. |

In Penang, the burger sold by the roadside, the buns are larger than your usual burger buns sold in KL road sides... it gives you a perception that the burger is darn big and worth it... but the meat is the same size.
