Tested the 55-200 SAM at PC Fair just now with a500, the focus speed is awesome compared to SAL75300. Retail price going for RM700...
Any offer on Sal50mm ?Photography The Sony Alpha Thread V34!, The Orange Legion

QUOTE(finejava @ Dec 5 2009, 11:41 PM) Poadster: mind asking how do make the background till all is black except for where the flash is fired? how bout the build-in flash? i though the build-in flash is the controller? Finejava: The basement carpark is itself rather dark with flourescent tubes.Setting: Flash Compensation: -2, Aperture Priority Mode: F11, Focal length: 50(ish)mm. The smaller aperture ensures that minimal light comes in, and the shutter remains fast for same purpose. The results is the lighted areas are bright, the background and unlit area remain dark. Flash compensation reduces the power of the built-in flash, and added distance between model and camera also lets the built-in flash's light disperse. If u look at one of the pics, you will see a carpark pillar on the left side of the frame. Hazril and ShootKK: Yup, no HSS used.... no need... Nice read!
http://photo.net/wedding-photography-forum/00V98v weixuan: There is also the option of using a shorter focal length to increase apparent DOF. However I was already pushing F1.4 ISO1600 and getting 1/50s (and there was motion blur apparent when viewing the full image.) Also the gig organizer does not like flash so I respected his wishes. Sometimes it is worth sacrificing a technical detail, in order to get the angle. If I had went up and shot wide and from above, I could cast a shadow. Also, if I shot at F2.8, the shutter speed would've been 1/13s - while his face may be sharper there would be more motion blur! shootkk: Wireless HSS should be fine provided you are pointing your flashes directly with minimal light modifiers. QUOTE(shootkk @ Dec 6 2009, 12:15 AM) To kill the ambient, close down the aperture and use a higher shutter speed. But I personally do not recommend going into HSS as HSS flash output greatly reduces the power and you may not be able to light your subject properly. QUOTE(Poadster @ Dec 6 2009, 01:33 AM) Finejava: The basement carpark is itself rather dark with flourescent tubes. shootkk, on the contrary, using HSS creatively does make your subject stand out more, if it werent for HSS, many of the basement pics would not work out. Setting: Flash Compensation: -2, Aperture Priority Mode: F11, Focal length: 50(ish)mm. The smaller aperture ensures that minimal light comes in, and the shutter remains fast for same purpose. The results is the lighted areas are bright, the background and unlit area remain dark.
