QUOTE(suns8630 @ Jan 16 2010, 02:18 PM) Like to get "confirmation" on BIS issue on DIGI while roaming (outside malaysia ) Roaming is subjective. Therefore, you'll have to check with TELCO about the charges. It differs for various countries. I would like to "consider" signing this BIS services with DIGI... anyone care to comment ... what if I am on roaming does this BIS unlimited apply .. for this case ...?? thanks BIS Unlimited only applies in Malaysia. |

![]() Added on January 16, 2010, 9:18 pm QUOTE(f3nix85 @ Jan 16 2010, 01:36 PM) Hi Guys/Gals, You got charged RM500plus plus or RM5 plus plus? Just to confirm a certain facts concerning Digi Blackberry Unlimited Smartplan ("the Plan"). Background Signed up for the Plan on 12 Jan 10. Been a happy BB user since then. However, was surprised to note there's RM5++ charges billed for GPRS data usage with description "diginet". I recalled I was surfing Youtube at the time the charges was billed. So I proceeded to D'chat (today) and managed to catch one of their consultants. Summary I was informed that any streaming via the Plan would be charged on a Pay-As-You-Use basis. Despite the fact that the Plan is an "Unlimited" plan, any streaming, including but not limited to Youtube would be charged. The consultant confirmed that the "Unlimited" is meant for "Unlimited BIS Service" only. Is Youtube not part of Internet? I was both furious and disappointed to learn of this. Can someone confirm this/help to corss check with DIGI? Regards, f3nix Added on January 16, 2010, 1:46 pmTo add onto my post above, i reconfirmed with another consultant via D'chat. He confirmed any streaming/Youtube via Blackberry through the Plan would be charged separately i.e. Pay-As-You-Use. Anyone? This post has been edited by domokun: Jan 16 2010, 09:18 PM |

QUOTE(suns8630 @ Jan 16 2010, 02:18 PM) Like to get "confirmation" on BIS issue on DIGI while roaming (outside malaysia ) Respective countries' roaming rates apply.I would like to "consider" signing this BIS services with DIGI... anyone care to comment ... what if I am on roaming does this BIS unlimited apply .. for this case ...?? thanks Unlimited applies only to using it within Malaysia. It's actually cheaper to get a local SIM card wherever you roam to and subscribe to its BIS service whenever possible. Anyway, I'll merged this thread with the existing DiGi BIS disucssion thread. |

QUOTE(petepix @ Jan 14 2010, 11:50 AM) lets be realistic we normally change phones like every 2 years... so how long would u want ur BB to last? I just feel thetering with phone will wear it out faster than usual. Oh and btw, if my BB can last more than 2 years, i dont mind keeping it as a spare phone in the event i change to a new phone.Added on January 17, 2010, 1:02 am QUOTE(domokun @ Jan 16 2010, 10:12 PM) Kena RM5.40 onli...hahaha .... but I think, better nip the problem at its bud rather than let it runs for sometime. QUOTE(dreadlessdream @ Jan 13 2010, 11:04 PM) I love experimenting.... I am going to try digistrm APN setting for 2 days... will be back to inform y'all the result Hallu... come back from my experimenting period... It has been 4 days since I changed my APN setting to digistrm. Using youtube to stream everything I could think of until my trackball stuck(normal for BB Tour user) and guess what? I didn't being charge for PAYU rate. So from my site the conclusion is digistrm will not be charged as PAYU rate for DiGi BIS Plan.Off Note: You have to try yourself. Sometimes even CS officer wouldn't know about this. The better way is to try your self. |

QUOTE(wowo @ Jan 17 2010, 11:31 AM) to avoid unexpected charges, y dun dg smart plan's internet max capped @ rm5 juz as dg prepaid does? For the n-th time being reiterated here in this forum, there'll be no extra charges if you stream youtube data in-device, while leaving the APN settings as "digistrm". According to T&C, it's unlimited data usage as long as data is consumed within the device,it's also made clear that when data is used in a tethering method to another machine, it'd be PAYU. That said, DiGi has to provide means for users, for tethering purposes, hence specifically the "diginet" APN. This is done so that DiGi could track the tethering usage, and billed usage could be calculated accordingly. OK, fair enough. Unfortunately, it has been mismanaged that some users through trial and error, managed to stream youtube WAP data on device using the same APN. DiGi couldn't distinghuish if it's in-device youtube WAP data , or is it tethering data, it therefore had to assume all traffic through this diginet APN is tethering. Hence, for DiGi to fulfill the contractual obligation of "unlimited data as long as data is consumed within device" , ie in this cae , for in-device youtube WAP viewers, there's another APN specifically just for this purpose, of course which is your "digistrm" APN. I bet there's a mechanism behind this APN to filter out non-youtube packets, to avoid anything else being passed through here without charges (ie: avoid tethering usages). In other words this APN is free but only allows youtube packets. Implementing the filtering here is more logical than doing it the reverse way round in diginet for obvious reasons : you want the PAYU users to get everything. I've been billed for diginet usage and I've requested DiGi to waive that, and they willingly did, because they knew they wouldn't be able to prove I had used this diginet solely for the purpose of anything other than in-device youtube streaming (or not). From my perspective I've only been using this APN for in-device youtube streaming specifically , which is nothing against the T&C. If they weren't to budge and I were to bring this case to court, I'd win hands down. However had I known better that there's a proper APN for in-device youtube streamers , I would've happily used that instead. In fact, I am using only digistrm since that incident onwards and there has been no issue since. There. |
