hi guys.. I want to ask about hongkong..

Currently I'm a foreigner studying in malaysia. And I want to go to hongkong soon, around 16/17th July. I'll be going there by myself.

The thing that I want to ask first, do I need any travel document to get the hongkong visa or I just went there and straight away can get tourist visa? and is it difficult to enter hongkong? sorry I'm pretty noob about this stuff because this is my first time to went for a trip by myself.

thanks anyway.

hi there, you mentioned you're a foreigner studying in malaysia. it depends which country you are from for the visa requirement, therefore, I strongly advise you check the following page to make sure you have the right travel document before you enter HK. generally, Malaysians do not require any visa for entering HK and Macau (except mainland).

I'm from indonesia. Actually I already heard from my friends that indonesian people not required to register for visa to go there but I just need to make sure only. biggrin.gif

do you mean mainland is china is it? and may I know how much money do I need to bring if I planning to stay there around 4-5 days? (including hostel and food and maybe visiting disney land / any other place). Since I quite tight budgeting, is RM1000 enough to stay and play there if excluding the airplane tickets?

U need more than RM1 thousand. I'm going there in August and I plan to bring RM2 thousand and also my credit card just in case. The budget hotel alone already cost RM500 for 4 nites. Hongkong is expensive in terms of food and entrance fees. Entrance fees to Disneyland is HK350.that is abt RM148.

Not sure if this has been asked before, but which is the most recommended prepaid SIM pack in HK, assuming I mostly want to use it's data only, as roaming charges will be expensive.

I've read that there's no prepaid BlackBerry service in HK. So I'll be using the data a lot for emails.

Thanks in advance.

the roaming charges to call back from HK to KL via Maxis is not that expensive (around the charges of roaming in SG)
I couldnt remember the price but it is way cheaper than roaming in china/indonesia/thailand.

Hi all,

It's been quite some time I haven't been here in lowyat to answering queries in my thread, becoz I'm more focusing on my own website and facebook page. There are some itineraries and blogs shared by people in my website, you can read and take them as your reference in trip planning, and I would add more up-to-date info and more useful content from time to time. Join us if you're interested, and see how I may help in planning your trip. Cheers~ smile.gif

Hi all,
I read page 1 to 29 and I still couldn't decide which hotel to book.
I will be travelling with my parents and sister in January 2011.

It seems that alot of people is recommending Dorsett Seaview in this forum. How does it compare to MetroPark Kowloon/WanChai and Central Park (Hollywood road) in terms of cleanliness, distance from public transport, and distance from city/place to eat?

Thank You

I stayed in Metropark Wan Chai before.

I think the location is not bad, it is around 5 mins walking distance to MRT and there are 3-4 shops for food in the same row, around 2 convenient shops in the same row too.

The rooms was spacious and clean.

Added on July 5, 2010, 2:52 pmI book Benito Hotel in Kowloon area. Location wise is superb. I can take airport express bus and stop at Nathan Road and walk abt 2 minutes to the hotel. Some more the hotel is close to train station and the market.
