Gud afternoon Northasian.Sorry if my question annoy you because I'm sure you have rcvd tons of questions abt HK.

My name is June and I'm planning to visit HK this Aug. Actually, working trip but I combine with leisure laugh.gif

This is what we plan to do;

Day 01
Arrive by MAS at 1315hrs. Chk in hotel. We stay in Hotel Benito,Tsim Tsa Tsui. After chk in go to Avenue of Star and surrounding for phostopstop. Later that nite visit to Ladies Market.(or any other market worth our money?? I mean worth to shop)

Day 02
Visit Disney land and Citigate outlet (we don't intend to spend so much time in Disneyland. A little bit photo session here and there will be enough for us.)

Day 03
Visit The Peak, Victoria Park, Bouhimia Square, Longest Escalator and Ocean Park.

Day 04
Day trip to Macau if time permitted other wise you can recommend us what else we shud include.

Day 05
Flight departure back to KUL at 1445hrs.

Our plan is to visit as many places as possible. Shopping is also my top priority.Heheheheh!! I'm looking for stuff like Adidas,Levi's,perfume, cosmetics, bags. We don't follow any tours. We just take the train, tram or buses.

Do you think our programme above is good??

Like Moody said. There's no food like we have in Malaysia.

They said the best time is between Jan-May but I'm not a big fan of cold weather. So I choose to come during summer.Plus, summer time is where u find discount/sales everywhere in HK.

QUOTE(sazzzhi @ Jun 18 2010, 12:43 PM)
I just came back from HK, not that hot there now, only 27'C-30'C.
Transportation very easy.
Only thing that, some do not speak english.
*I miss our malaysian affordable nasi lemak and cheap roti canai(In HK=RM5 after converted to RM).
Their Curry fish ball are spicy and sweet. Guess I still loves Malaysian Taste. Food there aren't cheap. But, HK are definitely worth visit to shopping. Fragrance, toiletries and many things there are cheap, probably coz its all duty free.
Have to take precaution and becareful when buy electronic things, have to buy in a reputable shops, as they will replace the goods item with fake or faulty one. so, please double check.

I did not get enough time to go all HK must go places.
I want to go HK again... When is the best season?
Next year March-May, should be alright is it? Don't want too hot.

U need more than RM1 thousand. I'm going there in August and I plan to bring RM2 thousand and also my credit card just in case. The budget hotel alone already cost RM500 for 4 nites. Hongkong is expensive in terms of food and entrance fees. Entrance fees to Disneyland is HK350.that is abt RM148.

QUOTE(dark_evil18 @ Jun 28 2010, 09:18 AM)
I'm from indonesia. Actually I already heard from my friends that indonesian people not required to register for visa to go there but I just need to make sure only. biggrin.gif

do you mean mainland is china is it? and may I know how much money do I need to bring if I planning to stay there around 4-5 days? (including hostel and food and maybe visiting disney land / any other place). Since I quite tight budgeting, is RM1000 enough to stay and play there if excluding the airplane tickets?

Added on July 5, 2010, 2:52 pmI book Benito Hotel in Kowloon area. Location wise is superb. I can take airport express bus and stop at Nathan Road and walk abt 2 minutes to the hotel. Some more the hotel is close to train station and the market.

QUOTE(stinky @ Jul 4 2010, 12:17 AM)
Hi all,
I read page 1 to 29 and I still couldn't decide which hotel to book.
I will be travelling with my parents and sister in January 2011.

It seems that alot of people is recommending Dorsett Seaview in this forum. How does it compare to MetroPark Kowloon/WanChai and Central Park (Hollywood road) in terms of cleanliness, distance from public transport, and distance from city/place to eat?

Thank You

To go to Citigate Outlet, you can take MTR Tung Chung line. From Tsim Tsa Tsui station go straight to Lai King station and interchange to go to Citigate Outlet station (I forgot the station name at Citigate outlet).

Harbour city is walking distance if you stay at Tsim Tsa Tsui area.

You can also go to Fa Yuen Street and Ladies Market in Mongkok area. From TST, take MTR to Prince Edward station (if you want to go to FaYuen Street) and Mongkok Station (if you want to go to Ladies Market).

Once you are in HK,get yourself an Octopus Card from any MTR station. This card can be use to take MTR,buses, several stores like 7E, bakeries, Circle K etc.

Near China Ferry Terminal (which is not far from Harbour City) got 1 Esprit outlet and 1 more outlet but I forgot the name because I didn't go inside. Harbour City is high end shopping mall like Pavillion. Fa Yuen street is close to Sg Wang. In my opinion, Citigate Outlet is the best place to buy stuff for branded clothing and shoes. I got my original sandal Crocs for RM50, nice Roxy t-shirt for RM30 and out of season Levi's jeans for RM180. U won't get this price in KL. rclxms.gif

I heard abt Argyle Centre but don't have time to go there. Ladies market is like Petaling Street. Open around 4-5pm.

Octopus Card is like Touch n Go but more user friendly unlike inefficient Touch n Go. When you buy the card, minimum is HKD100 with HKD50 as deposit. When u return the card, they will refund u all the unuse balance and deposit but minus HKD7 as handling fee. No question ask,no form to fill. Not like Touch n Go.Hahahahah!!

Citigate Outlet is in Lantau Island (same island with Disneyland HK). If you drive, takes about 40-50 minuteslah.

BTW, I like Causeway Bay nite spot. Very happening.

QUOTE(AngelLingLing @ Aug 25 2010, 01:56 PM)
hey thanks thanks~ besides citygate that sell factory outlet stuff any others?

harbour city mainly sell what type of clothes? branded or fashion like our sungaiwang?

yupyup jst notice fa yuen street is not bad =) for ladies market is only at night is it?

erm how about Argyle Center , have you heard of it?

oo ya for the octopus card is it like our touch n go? if got money left we can refund it at the end of the day? thanks!!

heard that citygate is very far from the city is it true?

Causeway Bay got shopping also but maybe you are not interested because you are not looking for high end brand. But I like the nite entertainment there. That's what I mean in my earlier post biggrin.gif

However, around TST, Mongkok, even Causeway Bay, I saw many small boutique selling good quality of clothing, shoes and handbag at reasonable price. I bought many clothes, shoes and handbag for my friends, family. They like it. So it is really not neccessary you have to buy from shopping mall.

As for Ladies Market, hmm! that is not my cup of tea because most stuff come from China and you can tell already the quality.

QUOTE(AngelLingLing @ Aug 25 2010, 11:12 PM)
oo typo hahaha i mean bangkok's platinum~ besides those factory outlet i mean like citygate i dont want to go to those high end's shopping center lor because those i think can get at kl... planning to go to those that sell cheap n high quality clothes like platinum mall at bangkok~ u can recommend?

Yeah, agree with u. I bought many many stuff from Giardano and Bossini tongue.gif

I bought dress for my sister from small boutique for RM32 which I will definitely pay more if I buy from KL.

Ballerina pump I bought it from small boutique cost me RM80 but the shoes is so comfortable. I felt like I walk on a sponge tongue.gif

QUOTE(moody5 @ Aug 26 2010, 11:09 AM)
Agreed.

I haven't found any similar mall like Bangkok's Platinum Mall in HK.

To be honest, those middle range brand outlets, i.e Esprit, It is really much cheaper, You can get a pair of jeans around RM 100, T-shirt around RM 25, Blouse and Skirts around RM 50.

If you are going during summers sales or winter, Ju to Aug period, you can get very cheap G2000, Bossini, Giordano.

Bossini, Giordano are usually cheaper than KL.

For small boutique, you can get tops around HKD 50. Quality not bad. Mostly those shops are located in Mongkok area.

HK's ladies shoes/heels and sandals are much more expensive than KL but sport wear and vans are cheaper and newer in models.

Citigate sell mostly ouf of season stock and that's why they are cheap. But who care, right?? Is not like people can tell my baju are from last season stock? Hahahahaha!!

Mongkok have only 1 station but several exit. Don't limit yourselves to one exit. Take any exit from Mongkok station and you can browse and walk from 1 street to another. From Mongkok you can actually walk to Fa Yuen street. But if you feel tired, you can take MTR and stop at Prince Edward station.

QUOTE(AngelLingLing @ Aug 26 2010, 11:38 AM)
yea yea dont plan to go for high end since high end i can get from citygate already ma... right? all highend are there is it?

Don't use Mongkok East. That is East Rail line. U must take Tsuen Wan Line MTR. Like Putra LRT,Star LRT and Monorail LRT. In HK they have 10 MTR lines.

Not exactly. It depend on where you want to go. For example, if you want to go to Causeway Bay, you take from Tsim Tsa Tsui station (Tsuen Wan Line) to Admiralty station (Island Line) & interchange train and stop at Causeway Bay station.

I give u an example, u want to go to Kelana Jaya from Ampang. U take STAR LRT from Ampang and interchange at Masjid Jamek. From Masjid Jamek u take PUTRA LRT to Kelana Jaya station.

HK MTR are efficient and reachable many places so u must know which station u must start and where u want to stop. Once u are familiar with the system,is very easy and convenience. It takes me only 1 nite to understand the system (I arrive HK around 4pm). Signage and MTR map are plenty.

QUOTE(AngelLingLing @ Aug 26 2010, 04:13 PM)
ooo okok!! so Tsuen Wan Line is the best? link to everywhere

Moody, my fren went to HK last year Dec for Christmas and she was dissapointed when most clothing she wants doesn't have discount/sale. Wondering why because I thought Christmas sale is better??

QUOTE(moody5 @ Oct 7 2010, 11:02 AM)
No offense

Just to ask, have you done any shopping during Nov-Jan in HK before?

As i have only done shopping during Jun-Aug sales in HK and I have been wondering,
How do you define 'clothes are mostly for winter which is not suitable for Malaysia or Singapore'?
coz I am thinking what is the different for summer time vs winter time t-shirts, slacks, jeans, and working shirts ? As what i know of, there is another mega sales around Christmas time as well.

Or anyone can share their shopping experience ?
