My last trip to the peak was last year...started at 2pm & down by 4pm..at 2pm abit hazy but ~4pm sky clearer...Morning worst..hazy. So I think Evening to Nite better...But hor my 1st trip to HK was in 1995 summer mth Hot but clear sky...There was no The Peak yet..the bus just brought us 1/2 way up Victoria peak, & whatever photos takenm during that time (1995) turned up nothing bcos, long time ago camera not so sophisticated..can't really take nite shots!! So those dun hv proper camera stand & nite still shoit...going at nite can be disaster!!...imagine u can see yourselve but background nothing!...But nowadays most Dig Camera probably good liao..otherwise..rethink if going at nite...
this was taken from the top of the peak ~3.35pm last Dec: ![]() This was taken ~10:30am at arena of star- abit hazy: ![]() This post has been edited by stimix: Nov 9 2009, 03:10 PM |

For such a long stay, I will not limit myself to HK & Macau...Should expand to Chinese cities!
If for me, I will only spend ~3D2N in HK, 2D1N in Macau, 2D1N in Guangzhou, 2D1N in Shenchen & bck again to HK on the 6th nite. This route..You can consider yourselve covering Pearl river cities dy |

What's wrong wth 3 star hotel? I have seen Ang Moh tourist wth baby in backpacking hostel. But we Asian too pampered wth star rated hotels. Soemtime even a no star or hostel will do wonders. i had stayed in backpackers hostel b4 & although basic, some even having 3 bedded room wth private bathroom...except basic beds & no TV....If your daily itineraries are super pack & u know u will be out from Morning till nite..why wasting on >3 Star rated hotel..U just need a good room with sufficient beds to stay..Look for those backpacking hostel wth family room will do...go the Mat Salleh style...
QUOTE(guest2929967 @ Jan 14 2010, 09:45 AM) we have thought of that as well. she usually sleeps for one or two hours only in the afternoon. thinking to get a more comfortable but lightweight stroller/buggy. also, that's the reason why I'm paying extra for better hotel stays, we could easily opt for 3-star hotels, but that wouldn't do it, right? any suggestions besides a stroller with some comfortable pillows? I just worry it's troublesome to carry them around. I only know I can rent a stroller from Disneyland and not elsewhere. suggestions? |

If u have > 6days, follow my earlier itineries by staying most of the time in China...
Macau>>Zhuhai>>Guangzhou>>Shenzhen>>Hong Kong>>Macau...just skip paas thru Macau & Hong kong to avoid expensive hotels. Visa to China, u can apply at China Consulate office at 1st flr of Bank of China /OSK building Jln Ampang. Or u go to any trvel agent & pay them to amke for you (Commision is ~RM80 per passport excluding Visa fee of ~ RM30, >RM100 for multiple entries.. (That's 2008 pricing) From Ferry terminal in HK to Shenzhen just follow the MRT route to Lohu station in New territory. U will be in Shenzhen once passing the immigration border. QUOTE(zachomel @ Jan 18 2010, 11:15 AM) hello all, first of all a round of applause to all of you that created and share your experience here so that a first timer to HK would know where to visit and stuff..thanks a lot.. Even 4stars hotels in Malaysia same...very limited King size bed for the baby... QUOTE(vey99 @ Jan 18 2010, 11:44 AM) those hotel room oni double bed, is hard to sleep wif couple + 1 baby rite. most no space to even add another bed. Added on January 18, 2010, 12:07 pmNo idea on the hostel..Normally hostel. normally hostels in Chian no need pre-booked or advance payment.. So it's pretty safe...similarly this one..Only worry if the hostel closed down b4 your arrival! QUOTE(zachomel @ Jan 18 2010, 11:47 AM) thanks mod..oh one more thing..isit secure to book dragon hostel thru their website (http://www.dragonhostel.com/) because i have to convince my sister coz she's like "they said book thru agency or Hk tourism..bla bla" but I want to cut the budget and time.. For those in group of 3-4 & on budget, going for those Bed & breakfast & dormitories lifestyle will be a good option...Certain hostel do have double decker beds in a small room & some comes wth own bathroom too...So might be a good idea getting those Dormitories wth only 2 double decker beds (Meaning for 4 wth own bathroom..
Probably the forumer can check those hostel in Hong kong by googling for "Hong kong hostel" Here's one after googling: http://www.hostelworld.com/hostels/Hong-Kong QUOTE(northasian @ Jan 26 2010, 10:38 PM) |

No need tour...HK is very convenient & well connected via MTR & buses.
1) My last trip also 4D3N. I started from Macau, crossing to Zhuhai on 1st day> Guanzhous & Shenzhen on 2nd day, HK on 3rd day & end of 3rd day -Arrived at Macau..haha... 2) Shenzhen is only ~ 45min from Tsim Sha Sui. 3) HK hotels are expensive..I avoid staying at HK & macau & stayed at China side instead (Except last nite at Macau) 4) & 5) No need guide. just do abit of research here & google. |
