still think there is nothing can prevent YLOD..some ppl play games/ blu ray movie like 24/7 also no problem until now, so how to explain that? Same goes to don't play online la, don't update fw la, for me that doesn't matter and doesn't mean YLOD won't happen at one day.

Still think YLOD is a general hardware failure which randomly hit any console..whatever pre-caution also nothing effect at all i think..

My old PS and PS2 still working flawlessly until now (how many years you count), no matter how many hours i played and fall down to floor...i think the old gadget are more reliable than present one.. sweat.gif

also got less "powaaaa" hehehe. its just a heat issue i think. if theres not enough ventilation. i think it only hits later on after dust build up in the machine.

No lah...the fan runs smoothly and very quiet.

Whether or not it will help prevent YLOD , i'm not sure. But I'm pretty sure it will keep my PS3 a few degree cooler.

My previous YLOD unit has been place into air-conditioning room and plenty of ample space for ventilation purpose since day 1, some more i only played it during weekend, and occasionally during weekdays. And my room always vacuum daily. Still it "infected" by YLOD sweat.gif

Yeah dust accumulated might cause the console overheat, but as for my case, tell me what has cause the YLOD?

Thus i still think it is a general hardware failure that you can't prevent at all. It merely depends on you are fortunate enough to be hit by YLOD or not.. doh.gif

U blow the air inward or sucks the air out?

However, the airflow of PS3 is just same like Xbox 360,the cool air came in from the right side (and front)and the hot air go out from the back,so if you suck the air out from the right side and it will just make the condition getting worst.
I try before sucking the hot air out from the right side, and the console getting even hotter and worst.

The right side is air flowing out. I can feel the warm air coming out from the right side. That is why i place the fan so that it suck the air out.

bro, mine is 40 GB model and same like you. hot air got out at the back so I put cooling fan (industrial grade) to suck the air out. my ps3 never run in hyperdrive mode if I turn on the cooling fan.

your method is wrong as the best way is to suck out the hot air so the temperature inside your ps3 won't rise up nod.gif . dun worry, this method is correct coz I'm a engineer myself and we cool laser tube using this method too icon_rolleyes.gif

I just checked my PS3 after hours playing MGS online.
I position the PS3 horizontally. I realized that, the bottom of the PS3 is hot. sweat.gif .
Quickly I put 2 blocks to lift the PS3.
This YLOD thingy scare me a lot.
Maybe I position it vertically, and see if it's better.

Last while playing Uncharted 2, my PS3's fan suddenly spin very fast and crash(power off and the red light blinking).

The YLOD strikes again? So I power down the PS3 and turn it back on immediately and to my surprise it turn on normally with a message that my PS3 is not turn off properly. I then remove the disc and play other HDD based game and so far no problem after that.

Did anyone experience this before? Is it just the game crash or its early sign of YLOD gonna happen again?
