QUOTE(HHH816 @ Dec 2 2009, 09:55 AM) tips to avoid YLOD(My theory) 1) after play simpan your ps3 in a cabinet 2) Don't play blu-ray film or dvd 3) Don't update software/Update your software via games 4) Don't go online at all 5) Don't play more than 3 hours. i dont think its good to simpan in the cabinet, rosak if you always moving it around me thinks. QUOTE(lightning69 @ Dec 2 2009, 03:02 PM) Or simply open out the arms and use it as laptop cooler. Best thing is that is cost only RM18... the fan doesnt fall off from vibrations?

QUOTE(SeanWong @ Dec 2 2009, 03:12 PM) still think there is nothing can prevent YLOD..some ppl play games/ blu ray movie like 24/7 also no problem until now, so how to explain that? Same goes to don't play online la, don't update fw la, for me that doesn't matter and doesn't mean YLOD won't happen at one day. Still think YLOD is a general hardware failure which randomly hit any console..whatever pre-caution also nothing effect at all i think.. My old PS and PS2 still working flawlessly until now (how many years you count), no matter how many hours i played and fall down to floor...i think the old gadget are more reliable than present one.. also got less "powaaaa" hehehe. its just a heat issue i think. if theres not enough ventilation. i think it only hits later on after dust build up in the machine. QUOTE(hanzanep @ Dec 2 2009, 03:19 PM) bought on 19 Nov 2009 till now still now.... no issue lately... only 2-3 weeks mahh. good that there is no problems.

QUOTE(lightning69 @ Dec 3 2009, 10:21 AM) Last while playing Uncharted 2, my PS3's fan suddenly spin very fast and crash(power off and the red light blinking). The YLOD strikes again? So I power down the PS3 and turn it back on immediately and to my surprise it turn on normally with a message that my PS3 is not turn off properly. I then remove the disc and play other HDD based game and so far no problem after that. Did anyone experience this before? Is it just the game crash or its early sign of YLOD gonna happen again? ps3 overheating emergency shutdown only. Added on December 3, 2009, 10:46 amor just got some error while playing and ps3 reset and clear flash memory apparently. people who play LBP know this best huhu. damn annoying. you can only use the heat gun. should be able to find it at ace hardware. you also need to find the thermal compound thing.
