QUOTE(ruztynail @ Nov 30 2009, 12:58 AM) No problem. We need people like you to keep the market competitive. Those shop asking for RM300-RM400 for fixing YLOD is pure nonsense. No changing of parts yet the ridiculous price. This post has been edited by lightning69: Nov 30 2009, 03:01 PM |

QUOTE(HHH816 @ Dec 2 2009, 09:55 AM) tips to avoid YLOD(My theory) I don't think any of these make any sense. 1) after play simpan your ps3 in a cabinet 2) Don't play blu-ray film or dvd 3) Don't update software/Update your software via games 4) Don't go online at all 5) Don't play more than 3 hours. There is a saying .... "Those afraid of dying never really lives". For me, I just bought a usb fan that would aid to increase the air flow in the ps3. Hopefully that would reduce the temp in the PS3 by a few degree celcius which in the long run might help a little bit. I did notice the air blowing out from the back of the PS2 less hot after I install the fan. |

QUOTE(monyetbesi @ Dec 2 2009, 11:05 AM) Nope. I bought one which is actually for laptop, but without extending the four arms outward, it sits nicely on top of the PS3. I will post a picture later. The good thing is that I use the fan to suck out the hot air from the PS3 instead of blowing the air into it.This is a picture of the fan.... ![]() This post has been edited by lightning69: Dec 2 2009, 12:10 PM |

QUOTE(lim360 @ Dec 2 2009, 11:11 PM) U blow the air inward or sucks the air out? The right side is air flowing out. I can feel the warm air coming out from the right side. That is why i place the fan so that it suck the air out. However, the airflow of PS3 is just same like Xbox 360,the cool air came in from the right side (and front)and the hot air go out from the back,so if you suck the air out from the right side and it will just make the condition getting worst. I try before sucking the hot air out from the right side, and the console getting even hotter and worst. |

Last while playing Uncharted 2, my PS3's fan suddenly spin very fast and crash(power off and the red light blinking).
The YLOD strikes again? So I power down the PS3 and turn it back on immediately and to my surprise it turn on normally with a message that my PS3 is not turn off properly. I then remove the disc and play other HDD based game and so far no problem after that. Did anyone experience this before? Is it just the game crash or its early sign of YLOD gonna happen again? |

QUOTE(panda-man @ Dec 3 2009, 10:39 AM) ps3 overheating emergency shutdown only. oH OK...so this thing did happen when playing games.Added on December 3, 2009, 10:46 amor just got some error while playing and ps3 reset and clear flash memory apparently. people who play LBP know this best huhu. damn annoying. Added on December 3, 2009, 12:19 pm QUOTE(sengwee1988 @ Dec 3 2009, 11:37 AM) I think is Uncharted 2 causing ps3 to overheat again, if your PS3 is revived from YLOD I recommend not to play Uncharted 2 for more than 2 hours straight, 1-2 hours stop for 15-20 mins to rest. Few more times turn off and red light blinking might cause YLOD to strike again. That is so bad....i better learn how to fix YLOD myself now. Beside heat gun, what else can we use? Hair dryer? Where can I buy heat gun? This post has been edited by lightning69: Dec 3 2009, 12:19 PM |

I was playing U2 again just now and it crashes the PS3 again. Just shut it off and red blinking light. I then restart the PS3 and it booted ok but then crash again less than a minute later. I then decide to remove the USB fan and restarted the PS3. Then I just use a normal big fan to blow to the front of the PS3 and play about an hour of Wipeout HD Fury and no problem. Then I put it uncharted 2 again and have play about 2 hrs now still no problem.
I think the USB fan is not working very well and causing the PS3 to crash. So I think its not advisable to turn the PS3 to a disco machine with the ble USB fan. |

Play about 2.5 hrs of uncharted 2 tonight without and crash. What I did this time is put the USB fan on top of the PS3 but this time I use the fan to blow the air into the PS3 instead of sucking it out.

My PS3 YLOD again. It was ok last night. However this morning when I turn it on, it just YLOD.
I think the YLOD is worst than the 3ROD. This post has been edited by lightning69: Dec 5 2009, 09:27 AM |

QUOTE(ruztynail @ Dec 5 2009, 11:52 PM) so sorry to hear that bro. thats kinda the downside for reflow. its a quick fix but the problem has a tendency to come back again. No problem mate. I will try to reflow it myself this time, but can only try when i got home from my offshore trip now.Too bad we cannot use the old HDD on the a new PS3. Then no matter what I have to revive my PS3 just long enough to backup. |
