you just can't expect performance from culv notebook, they are not meant to be one in the first place.

Noted that. But bcoz of the slim looks/design really tempt me. Looks like I'm going to wait a bit .. tongue.gif

can I know TurboCache GPU is good?
I heard it can boost up to many mb of ram compare to non TC.
as the laptop you all recommend is using ATI Radeon 4570, which don't have TC, will it still good enough to use? Compare to NVIDIA G100 or G200 series.

And I want to know how you all know it is DDR2 or DDR3 if it not stated? can check in system?
And for the dell video card, you all said it is DDR3, but where you all found it? I look at the web, it only state 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570.

TurboCache is just for the gpu to borrow some ram from the system ram, which most of the time, is not needed. Do remember, no matter how big is the ram on your gpu, doesn't mean its faster, its just has more room to buffer.
example, 9600M GT 256MB DDR3 > 9600M GT 1GB DDR2

256MB/512MB is enough for most of the time and you won't see significant improvement, unless you are playing in high resolution such as 1920x1080

as for the ram, can use cpu-z to check it.

and as for the gpu, can be seen using a program named gpu-z, you can ask on the studio 15 thread.

I'm planning to buy a laptop since PC Fair came. The purpose of this laptop is just for me to bring to college for IT classes which involves programming, designing and light gaming(CS/Dota) between friends. I'll be using dekstop at home instead... just to keep the laptop alive for a longer time.

1. Is it necessary to extend your warranty to 3 years when you buy the laptop ? For RM270 from 1 year to 3 years.

2. They say that PC fair always sell products that have a higher tendency to be faulty and thus don't buy laptop from PC fair, do you think it's true ?

abt time that Acer updates it's products...

Speaking of Acer updates, it seems they will be one of the first to incorporate ATI's mobile Evergreen GPUs in a 18.4" "laptop". Also includes an i7 720QM processor. Pretty reminiscent of the Asus W90 and its derivatives IMO.

Asus k40ab with amd ql-65 and ati HD4570 for rm 1999
or
Lenovo G450 with t6600 and nvidia G210M for rm 1999
both these perform similar and the best you can get for gaming under 2k~

Hi guys and gals,

Need your feedback again:

My friend saw the HP DV2 12" notebook (with AMD Neo cpu) and likes it quite a lot. But I think the battery life is so so and the performance is not so good. My friend only wants it mainly for internet surfing, word processing and the occasional movies (hooking up to plasma tv to watch).

Could you guys and gals recommend any similar laptops in that similar price range?

preferable specs:
12"-13"
lightweight - less than 2 kg
prefer CULV core2 duo if possible
4gb of ram if possible
windows 7 included
good warranty
for internet, office work, and can watch HD movies on plasma (if possible)
nice looking wud be a plus
budget - 2k - 2.5k

Thanks so much

1) For now only acer 5935G with Nvidia GeForce GT130M DDR2 in Malaysia. Theres also a 5935G model with Nvidia GeForce GT240M I saw at amazon.

2) RM3999?

3)----

4 That depends.. I never see acer prices vary. Because it has like some sort of SRP(Suggested Retail Price) which everyone sells ta the same price.
