I just realized the SXPS 16 i7 comes with the 9-cell battery. Does that mean that if i don't get an additional 6-cell battery and swap it myself, i'm gonna have to live with the larger 9-cell which protrudes at the back of the laptop? At least with the 6-cell battery it's flat.
*
With flat one ur getting urself bad ventilation for your laptop(at least with abit rise at the back got ventilation biggrin.gif).. Its an i7 man.. 9-cell is a must to feed its hunger tongue.gif

Gents,

May I know is Intel CULV procs (SU7300 for example)+ G210M GPU is good enough for Autocad and mild gaming? Coz I've been interested with Asus UL80VT model.

Any comment from UL80VT user/similar laptop would be appriciated.
*
Erm the Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 is clocked at 1.3GHz you can overclock it using Asus Turbo33 Technology to 33% which is 1.73GHz.

Why not check the minimum requirements of the Autocad program you are using? smile.gif

If for the graphics card according to http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphi...List.844.0.html

The Acer Timeline 4810TG with HD4330 would be better. But surely bottlenecked by the Processor which is C2D 1.4GHz

For balanced get the Acer 4736G although the G105M is abit weaker. You get a better processor in return biggrin.gif

hey, need quick reply here.

1) wats de best gaming comp for acer? i need smooth and nice graphic for l4d2 and fifa10

2) wats de approximate price for it at the pc fair? (its today rite?)

3) wats de approximate price for Asus U80V BenQ S42, p8700 + Nvidia 9600M GT
BenQ S57, p8700 + HD4650 and dell XPS 16 at the pc fair.

4) or i can actually get a cheaper price at other place?
*
1) For now only acer 5935G with Nvidia GeForce GT130M DDR2 in Malaysia. Theres also a 5935G model with Nvidia GeForce GT240M I saw at amazon.

2) RM3999?

3)----

4 That depends.. I never see acer prices vary. Because it has like some sort of SRP(Suggested Retail Price) which everyone sells ta the same price.

yeah.. please.. no nid to get a mac if its not for the Mac OSX..

Because you can have better spec laptops..

The Asus UL80Vt and UL30Vt has claimed battery life on idle up to 12 hours with 8-cell battery.

Reviews shows that with WiFi surfing, full power saver and at 50% brightness you can get up to 8 hours.

Just remember these 2 models have Asus Turbo33 Overclock Technology. Just dont use it when you're on battery lol.. Later you might get only up to 4-5 hours.. biggrin.gif

It also offers Hybrid Graphics. The discrete graphics Nvidia GeForce G210M will be switched off when using power saver and switches to the integrated Intel graphics to save power smile.gif

Dell Studio XPS 16 RM3999 look at dell.com.my for customisation smile.gif

Need recommendation, guys.

Purpose: Photo processing. Photoshop. Gaming.
Budget: Around RM3K. But don't go too far away.
Priority (Most Important > Less Important): Processing Speed > LCD colour accuracy (Size doesn't matter) > Battery Life > Storage > Gaming graphics

Considering (Recommend me similar ones, if there is!  smile.gif ) :
- Dell Studio 14 (2.26GHz, 1066MHz FSB, 4Gb 1066MHz Ram, Radeon HD 4530, HD 720p WLED Display, 6 cell 56WHr / 5200 MAh batt)
- Acer Aspire Timeline 4810TG (Centrino 2 Proc 1.4Ghz, 800MHz FSB, 2Gb Ram, Radeon HD 4330, CineCrystal LED-backlit TFT LCD, 6 cell 5600MAh batt)
- Asus UL80VT (1.3GHz C2D Proc, 4Gb Ram, Nvidia G210M, Widescreen HD LED LCD Display, 12 hours battery life)

Questions:
(1) I got the genuine Windows 7 Professional Edition already. Got NON-OS from these companies? Last time when I bought my Acer, there is.
(2) Heard that Dell batteries can only last for a year? [Here]
(3) G210M got so keng meh? Can play what kind of games ar? Resident Evil 5, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2?
*
You can get Asus UL80Vt for RM2699 Freedos
-Core 2 Duo SU7300 1.3GHz(Overclockable 33% to 1.73GHz with Asus Turbo33 Technology)
-2GB DDR3 1066MHz Ram
-Nvidia GeForce G210M 512MB DDR3 Hybrid Graphics with Intel 4500MHD
-320GB 5400rpm hdd
-14"
-Claimed up to 12hours battery life. (Reviews shows 8 hours+ for WiFi surfing on power saver)

Look at this review for the Asus UL80Vt http://www.expertlaptopreview.com/?p=10
Gaming seems very good for a CULV notebook. This specs better than Acer 4810TG biggrin.gif
Can overclock the processor some more 1.3GHz>1.73GHz really amazing biggrin.gif

what we mean is throw it aways after u get the system .. McAfee is a resource hunger app.. its very bad for a paid security suite.. I'd recommend ESS4, NIS2010 and KIS2010 over it for paid security suite..

Hi there, I'm thinking to get a new laptop. Been a while since i last browse one...Thanks.

1)Budget = RM5000+
2)Usage of laptop = Photoshop, multimedia application, gaming
3)Size/Weight = 13"-17"/any weight will do
4)Brand = Acer/Dell/Apple
*
I'd say go for Dell Studio XPS 16 either the:
RM3999 Configuration:
-Core 2 Duo P8700 2.53GHz
-3GB DDR3 1066MHz RAM
-ATi Mobility Radeon HD4670 1GB DDR3
-320GB 7200RPM HDD

or

RM4999 Configuration:
-Intel Core i7-720QM 1.6GHz(Turbo 2.8GHz)
-4GB DDR3 1066MHz RAM
-ATi Mobility Radeon HD 4670 1GB DDR3
-500GB 7200RPM HDD

Since you do photoshop you "might" need Core i7, or you can customise the RM3999 configuration with a Core 2 Duo P9700 2.8GHz which is less than RM4999 biggrin.gif
