I'm an interior design student and wanted a laptop for myself. Here's what I want.
1. Asus or BenQ
2. 3.5k below
3. intel i7/p8700,4gb ram
4. 14' -16'

I have my eye on Dell Studio 15' with i7. But when I look around Asus I found out that I like Asus design more than dell's design. Is there any laptops that you can recommend? I can't see the price in their website. So... I might need some guidelines for the price.
*
BenQ S57 (rm3399 iirc), S42 (rm2999 or below)
Asus U80V (rm3399 for P7450 config)

I posted last 2 week for laptop recommendation which spec is
around 2.5k, some gaming, 14-15 inch.

as many people respond was Asus k40AB and Dell Studio 15. Dell 15 is a good choice but need to top up 200 make me consider till today.

As PC fair is near at that time so I plan to wait till today, and hope more new model with better spec around. Laptop with GPU HD4570 cost 2.5k still only this two spec? any with GPU 4530? or NVIDIA G210M? that cheaper

as I see benchmark of G210M performance is higher than HD4570. G210M is 3394 and HD4570 only 3312 in 3dMark06.

if i going to buy laptop at low yat later, which shop recommend?
*
Lenovo G450 with G 210M would be an alternative...

anyway, G210M with DDR3 performs roughly the same as HD4570 with DDR2 (K40Ab/K50Ab), as u can see from the score u put down, both are 3.3k (difference of 100 pts in 3D Mark is negligible)... but HD4570 with GDDR3 (Studio 15) scores at least 4k in 3D Mark 06...

i wish to ask which processor is better,

P series processor?
T series processor?
SU series processor?

i7/i5 i think is out since it is very expensive

budget around 3000 ,need dedicated graphics

can some frens out there help me differentiate what each processor is doing? can throw me examples comparing them?

mobility, reliability are my concern
pls help
*
P = 25W, T = 35W, SU = 10W... that all that they mean... performance has got nothing to do with these prefix...

for rm3k with dedicated graphic, BenQ S42 would be the best bet (P8700 with 9600M GT)... next up would be Dell Studio 15 (T6600 with HD4570)

If there is a choice always go for GDDR3

Gents,

May I know is Intel CULV procs (SU7300 for example)+ G210M GPU is good enough for Autocad and mild gaming? Coz I've been interested with Asus UL80VT model.

Any comment from UL80VT user/similar laptop would be appriciated.

Erm the Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 is clocked at 1.3GHz you can overclock it using Asus Turbo33 Technology to 33% which is 1.73GHz.

Why not check the minimum requirements of the Autocad program you are using? smile.gif

Core clock frequencies have always been the key defining factor in overall processor performance when comparing like models. Meaning a higher cache will rarely make up the difference in core clock deficits. The same can be said for FSB speeds.

You are referring to GPU VRAM or video RAM. The better the VRAM, the faster your GPU's memory clock will be, and thus the better it will perform. DDR2 is the cheapest type of VRAM and will be detrimental to a GPU's overall performance. Always opt for GDDR3 VRAM if possible.

I highly doubt that manufacturers will be releasing new stuff during the holidays that isn't a rehash of current systems. If you want newer tech, wait for Arrandale which should arrive in notebooks during the early stages of Q1/10.

That is inaccurate and not what he meant. A Core 2 Duo processor is capable of supporting DDR3 RAM (note this is your common RAM module and has nothing to do with the GPU's VRAM). The one problem with that is while DDR3 RAM modules still command a premium over the older DDR2, they do not justify that price difference with similar performance gains. Meaning you'll likely never notice the difference between DDR3 and DDR2 RAM.

Not quite 15", but I'd recommend the Inspiron 14z all the same.

For the second laptop, get either the Lenovo G450 or Asus K40AB.

That pretty much rules out the Benq S42/57. Despite being very good value for money, you'll be hard pressed to find a blander design. Perhaps the Dell Studio 15 will suit your needs best in this case.

Only one real logical choice, IMO. The Dell SXPS 16.

I don't have a the UL80VT, but I have used a CULV for AutoCAD before. It is doable, but you have gotta be one patient dude...

But it doesn't have a full HD screen or does it come with an OS. Meaning the actual final tally could well be higher.

I dont think there is any P or T series processor below 2.0GHz..

Thermal Design Power(TDP):
P-series 25W
T-series 35W
SU 10W

Okay. I forgot to mention that is not compatibility issue. Even with my current lappie C2D T5250 can open autocad without problem biggrin.gif.

I had same question. My major concern is how the CULV chips perform toward such resource hunger programme like Autocad (I mention it already tongue.gif), photoshop plus gaming. So is it worth to buy this kind of laptop or should I wait more? . Anyway thanks.

you just can't expect performance from culv notebook, they are not meant to be one in the first place.
