Check out the below easy comparison between different display. It's from Sony and we know Sony don't push Plasma TV so looking at the chart, I would say the result is quite neutral.

Anyone experience the installer laying the screen on sofa instead of the back of the panel to do the installation? Wah so shock and heart ache saw they do that. Don't they know the screen is the most important part of an LCD?

QUOTE(silverbolt143 @ Oct 10 2011, 12:41 PM) Hi bros, need some advise...i have narrowed down my options as per below: So, hows the tv shopping.. bought any tv yetIf i goes for Plasma: - Samsung 3D Plasma 43" PS43D491 - Samsung Plasma 43" PS43D451 - Panasonic 42" Plasma TH-P42U30K Note: I kinda like the sammy (because its value for money) but the aspect ratio 4:3 (1024x768) such a turn-off for me. Unless somebody can convince me that its not a big deal in term of PQ and no problem watching 720p without scaling. If goes for LED: - Panasonic LED TV - L42E3K (50hz - Toshiba LED 40" - 40PS10E (not sure PQ better than Sammy or Pana. also dont know if its capable of 100hz) - Samsung LED UA40D5000 (seems like a good option but not sure on it media player capabilities) My major requirements and viewing preference 1) at least 40 incher 2) willing to extend to RM2500 if the models comes with good media player which can play at least 720p mkv x.264 DTS file. 3) can hook up 2TB HDD and play movie directly. 4) If possible, at least true HD ready reso of 1280×720 or 1366×768. 5) If LED, at least 100hz If my requirement no 2 and 3 is not possible with the above listed models: - i would rather go for cheaper model with the remaining requirements met (No 1,4,5).. - And just hook up dedicated Media Player (WDTV, AcRyan) to the TV.... - Example: Sammy Plasma 43" PS43D450, Panasonic 42" Plasma TH-P42X30K, Samsung LED UA40D5003 Appreciate any advise from the expert and current user.... anyway... if i were u... i narrow it to two choice i. Pana U30plasma.. issues is glaring, n media capability is the worst ii. Samsung D5000 led... minor is not good 100hz function, good media capability, not sure on 2TB disk, but 1TB disk no issues (in theory since this TV support ntfs, 2tb should no problem supporting, but it may not work as some 2tb hdd require higher power consumption) and after consideration, will get the samsung UAD5000 |

Hei,
I'm not much of a tv freak but it is about time I upgrade my 42 LCD (buying in Nov or Dec?) since it is getting old. Would like to get some input before deciding as I get lost about the technology e.g. Sammy 55 3D LED got RM8,999 and another model RMN14,999, ask the SA and he told me only difference is one is 200 hz while the newer 1 is true 400hz Do not know which route to go - LED, LCD or Plasma. Anyway 70% will be to watch movies (bluray, DVD & downloads) 30% will be linked to gadgets (computer, videocam ect). Not partial to any brand but would not want to settle for cap ayam so either Japo or Koreans. My budget will be RM8k (up to RM11k) and will need at least 50 but partial to 55 (since upgrade from 42) 100hz or 200 hz is important as I like to watch action movies. Do I really need internet connection for the TV if I do not subscribe to Unifi? Does it work on slower connection like streamyz? Dunno whether to get 3D or not; I like the tech but worry that it will be superceded once I buy (I intend to keep the TV for at least 3 yrs?) I heard that glassless 3D is on the way. Thank you in advance This post has been edited by rakyat: Oct 17 2011, 02:01 PM |

Does it work on slower connection like streamyz? Its nice to have, if i have nothing to watch or some kinds comes over, i get them connected to youtube...pretty handy. It depends on your bandwidth consistency, I run 1Mb, not having any problem streaming Dunno whether to get 3D or not; I like the tech but worry that it will be superceded once I buy (I intend to keep the TV for at least 3 yrs?) I would go this route. yep i agree with you... this should be the way... dont rely on the tv media capability since it have a lot of limitation... with rm700, a top rated media player can even play 3d blu ray iso (not typical SBS MKV).. but where u get the 3d blu ray iso.. up to u laa... hheheheh Added on October 18, 2011, 9:33 am QUOTE(rakyat @ Oct 18 2011, 08:41 AM) Hmm.. panny hav 55"? QUOTE(eddikl @ Oct 21 2011, 10:23 PM) One person's meat is another person's poison. I can't stand LED because in dim room, they are too bright as to harsh on the eyes. And I also find Samsung's color too vivid (approaching cartoon-ish) and less natural. |

Somehow sony LED tv seem very natural in terms of coloring. Samsung colour may seem vivid, but its enhanced.
