The internet is heading to be pervasive in our daily lives. In the near future, don't be surprised if even our toaster in the kitchen will be internet connected. Internet savvy tv is slowly becoming a standard feature now. With that connectivity, the manufacturers have to create the relevant applications to exploit the capability. For internet tv, the immediate apps that it can utilise is YouTube, for example. With HD content being served by YouTube, we have a new platform to watch video media served by internet. Other new apps could be emerging now. Of course, your bandwidth to the internet is a governing factor depending of the apps that you are viewing. Don't confuse this with the apps that you can run on your home network.

i am travelling to malaysia for 4 days. i am exploring option to buy tv there. i do not know which place to buy from (cheaper and safe transaction). Not looking for 3d tv.

Considering to buy plasma - Samsung or Panasonic.
Inches - 42 inch
Watching standard cable signal (not sure about quality of HD satellite connections)
Not too much into gaming
I am planning to carry it in flight and hence weight is an issue. Is samsung plasma lighter than panasonic? I have a samsung wave phone and think it can interact better with a samsung tv than panasonic.
Budget - 2.5k and lesser
If anyone has idea about difference between Samsung plasma and Panasonic Plasma please elaborate.  If there is no big difference like to go for samsung.

Lastly, will the seller assist me in packing the tv well to withstand the flight travel?

btw is this model is a full hd model??(it says so in the specs but im not that sure what is true and what is a sales pitch)

1. really feature packed with lan/wifi , usb photo vids reader, 4x hdmi n full hd
2. the interface n setup kinda make other brand even led class to shame. its like ps3 ish!
3. tried it out with newly bought 3200 philly bluray n the sony remote pick up 3200 function instantly! n yea bluray playback was very nice n crisp ( btw that player is awsome too! lol )

the only bad, well not bad just hastle , thing i came across is... usb player is not plug n play need special condition ( folder name bla bla bla ) to setup , where as when i cucuk via 3200 , instantly can browse , see n play stuff

owh cool sometime u just hafta experience it fo urself too

Hi, I'm looking for a full HD tv, 50-55".  Budget is up to 10k.

Would prefer a 55" display, but I'm kinda cost-conscious.  I previously picked up a 42" LG LCD from Carrefour at RM1,599, but it's a bit too small for my living area (around 15' from wall to couch). 

I saw an ad for a 50" plasma going for RM2,850 at Houz Depot, but I don't want to make the same mistake I did with the 42" - settle for something less just because the price was too good to pass up.

Any suggestions for a good 55" full HD tv at RM10k and under?

I'm not much of a tv freak but it is about time I upgrade my 42 LCD (buying in Nov or Dec?) since it is getting old. Would like to get some input before deciding as I get lost about the technology e.g. Sammy 55 3D LED got RM8,999 and another model RMN14,999, ask the SA and he told me only difference is one is 200 hz while the newer 1 is true 400hz

Do not know which route to go - LED, LCD or Plasma. Anyway 70% will be to watch movies (bluray, DVD & downloads) 30% will be linked to gadgets (computer, videocam ect).  Not partial to any brand but would not want to settle for cap ayam so either Japo or Koreans.
If watching movie with quality, then go with Plasma (panny?)

My budget will be RM8k (up to RM11k) and will need at least 50 but partial to 55 (since upgrade from 42) 100hz or 200 hz is important as I like to watch action movies.
55 would be nice    Even with 200Hz, it wont be able to catch up with Plasma
Do I really need internet connection for the TV if I do not subscribe to Unifi? Does it work on slower connection like streamyz?
Its nice to have, if i have nothing to watch or some kinds comes over, i get them connected to youtube...pretty handy.
It depends on your bandwidth consistency, I run 1Mb, not having any problem streaming
Dunno whether to get 3D or not; I like the tech but worry that it will be superceded once I buy (I intend to keep the TV for at least 3 yrs?) I heard that glassless 3D is on the way.
I would rather wait till 3D without glasses

I've managed to test VIERA TH-P50X30K only
When I saw below intro from universal studio, I saw something like frame by frame when the word universal come in, not smooth

Questions :-
Is it meaning LCD frame rate more faster than PLASMA...?
Is it bcoz the PLASMA is too big (50"), if buy smaller size like 42" will eliminate above problem...?
Is it bcoz the movie is 1280 x 544 and the PLASMA is 1024 x 768...? if buy 1920 x 1080 will eliminate above problem?

I dun wan to :-
buy LCD/LED coz 50" and above is so expensive...
buy smaller than 50" but if 42" can eliminate the above prob, then I've no choice...

another thing which im confuse is the HD ready (720p) and the full HD (1080p) specs. seems like majority plasma tv is only 720p while those LED/LCD are 1080p.

does this affect:-
1. normal tv watching (astro/beyond)
2. dvd
3. blue ray
4. other multi media files; mkv/avi/rmvb/etc.......

I just want to ask opinion/ help from anyone/ the seniors to help me solve these questions:

I would like to buy a 42-43 inch plasma tv..and now there are only two brands that play in my mind; Panasonic vs. Samsung...

1. I believed that Samsung has advantage in picture quality (as I already saw it with my own eyes), but I heard that Panasonic is better in quality control...so is it true that Samsung 'lagi senang rosak' compare to Panasonic?

2. I heard rumors that Samsung plasma's frame/panel is originally from Pioneer plasma Kuro..Is it true? Because I know that Pioneer Plasma Kuro is the best plasma in the world...only that it is not available in Malaysia...

3. For those who has experiences with those two plasma brands, may I know, which one gives problems more? especially 'image retention/ burn in' problem..
