any other allowance ? where is the work place ? still need ppl ? i;m fresh graduate.
*
other allowance? or u mean benefit?
insurance coverage paid by company
IF die, family can get 200k
my mgr got 500k coverage

all medical bill (clinic) can claim.
and yes we still need people
but no many ppl can stand this kind of living
one of my fren after grads also join this sector
he lasted 4 month.
citing problem with girl fren and loneliness of being inside the estate.
my fren company actually pay better
n higher allowance compare to mine
but still he quit his job

u are encourage to join if u wan a serene style of living
where there is no traffic jam when go to work (for me the distance is just 2km away)
and u already have girlfriend/ wife that are willing to live in the estate.
palm oil industries all are about the same, im term of their salary n also requirement
after work for 2 years, your are eligible to sit for JKKP's steam engineer's competency test
my company will give RM1000 if u pass the exam and better salary adjustment later.

oh one more thing
there is also executive share option, its something like warrants but can earn more.

sigh...
next year brace urselves:
Toll and petrol going up
food sure will go up more, now also inflation so damn
high.

KL normal 2k plus pay cannot survive lar.

Penang seems to be more reasonable. The MNCs there pay a lot better - - Altera starting already 3245, Intel 2.8k, others around 2.6, 2.8. Somemore penang dont have to use so much petrol for travel.

Is it normal to get around that salary per month in Aussie? Or you are talking about per annum?

True,
But I am currently from Penang. I have to tell you, unless you are an engineer with good results and know what you are studying, MNC hardly will employ you permanently from start. I myself try to get into the MNC permanently but with no luck. I finally took up a job as a contract worker in one of the MNC and I get much lower pay (about 500RM lesser than the permanent worker).

What all the people working in the Penang think?

Oh btw, I am a IT graduate.

That really depends on where you work at
Finance and banking good pay but in here is very demanding and OT intensive. Business related can be huge, need to be more specific.

What kind of job you looking at?

5 years.  Preferably commercial law, but honestly anything will do.  You just need to be the best.
Investment banks target excellence in both character and ethics.  Meet an investment banker and you will see 90% are of the same pedigree.
Hedge Funds.

I don't think you're in Malaysia, right? Malaysia is just too small for Hedge Funds, and let's say if you're in the States, a 3 series is a lot more affordable over there.

Correct me if I'm wrong though smile.gif

You are smart. HAHA. Though clients exist everywhere now.

But I'll admit that an Investment banker is nothing more than a glorified salesman. Commissions are the same, the difference being sales worth $US30K for a car, $US5Mil plus on a fund. Do the math.

Whooosh... Fantastic pay scale you all... icon_idea.gif

My humble lil' input...

Job : Plant Developmental Geneticist (truth: Over-glorified farmer.... biggrin.gif )
Job Description : Responsible for the development of high yielding commercial crop varieties (together with research team) and the improvement
and production of high quality planting materials (head of unit); Managing lab operations pertaining to research work; Assist in the
management and field implementation of scientific research findings
Company : KLSE listed company (The "David" amongst the "Goliaths" biggrin.gif )
Industry : Palm Oil sector
Tenure : Renewable contract
Education level : BSc, MSc (on-going)
Experience : Nil prior to joining the industry (Unless consider the short stints I had while pursuing my BSc)
Salary : Prefer not to mention (unless you PM me lar..), but within the range of 2.5-3.0k basic starting...

Benefits:
House provided with furniture and basic fittings, water and electricity FOC, gardener provided who can double up as house keeper. Fuel usage can be claimed for all official work (if I use my own car). Company vehicle provided. Initial few years guaranteed fixed bonus, after which will go depending on company performance (sorta like profit sharing concept lor...). Medical expenses covered completely by company, extremely long paid holidays (almost two months wei.... although i rarely take any.... sweat.gif ), Hardship Compensation should I need to carry out exploration field research studies.

Drawback(s):
Depending on individual view... For me, I see little or no drawback as I'm passionate about my research work and enjoy the flexibility of research given to me. Only thing is I'm short of quality staff.... doh.gif Remuneration package given, I find it highly appreciable for a young scientist like me. Normal daily working hours last for 8 hours, but honestly only a lazy (or useless) scientist will work for 8hours a day.

Given my young age and relative infancy in the industry compared to other senior scientists, I feel blessed for being able to pursue my dreams.

And ya, being in the plantation industry really is good for saving money as the temptation to spend, spend, and spend some more isn't there. Unfortunately I don't save as much as another brother here because I sorta "donate" a big part of my income to my car... sweat.gif
