Ya man you should look around, ABAPERs pay well but depends on module. You must at least know FICO/HR combination then really good la. Lots of company outsource their ABAP and keep their basis ppl only. Don't be like me and end up wrong side of the fence (the outsourcer) hehe

Job Title : software engineer
Years spent in company: 1 year
Job Desciption : programming job (from scratch to complete), testing, implement and testing with client, consultation a bit
Company : Local company
Tenur : permanent
Employment Level : junior programmer
Experience before joining : -
salary : RM 2000 nett. no OT/allowance whatever

want to ask u guys, which would be a better prospect between a system engineer and software engineer. my current office is damn boring. only 2 ppl inside. and now most of the time i deal with client or doing debugging. no more new development. getting boring with programming life.

i had another offer for system engineer. contract based. local company as well, but seems they are bigger company. salary 2k + allowance(400 if shift, 200 if standby, 100 per day if outstation, and OT as well). my current boss said i will get increment if i secure another project (in the mid of dealing with the client already). should i jump and do shift work, or just stay?

First ask yourself if you can handle being called up in the middle of the night to go on-site to troubleshoot problems? Can you handle troubleshooting for that 24 if no solution is in sight? Do you have a good interest in technical subjects or do you prefer abstract problem solving (programming) ?

When you're a system engineer supporting high end and critical equipment then there is a good future it it.
