Its just my first 4 months... currently not paying tax, epf, socso.... but I need to declare that if want to seriously doing it long term. Currently I have two project source, they have lots of on going projects "so far".. but for long term i need to widen my contact base and get my own client directly.... the only down side of it is your payment is usually slower.. I currently get payment for the work I done a month before and cause you work from home, there will be some communication problem.. there will be times that you need to work until mid-night because of some misintepretation of requirements.. but the freedom I get really priceless... but you really need to be smart to get through doing freelance just like any other businesses..

Haiz, I also dont know. I've sent many of my resumes and so far only that company give me feedback and they offer me to start work this coming monday with pay of only RM1.5k. Maybe its harder to find job in Penang, or maybe my resume have problem sad.gif

So should I take the offer and start work on monday? I not yet sign the offer letter. If I really take the offer, I guess within these 2 months I cannot look for other jobs already. And now I'm considering to do part time free lance jobs to earn more income.

What database do you know and what database will be used on your new job?? IMHO, if you have never use Oracle database and the new job provide you exposure to Oracle, it may be worthwhile to stay there for a while.

Hi, just want to ask some opinions from you all. I'm now on dilemma whether should I take the job or not. They ask me to go work on this monday. But I feel that I'm being underpaid if I do choose this job. So should I reject the job offer and find other jobs that can offer me higher pay based on my result? Cause I feel now is the only time I can search for job based on my result. After I work and gained experience in my working field, my results means nothing anymore. I guess they only see our qualifications and experience, not how good our result was in our cert.

Just want to ask for more opinions.

Thanks.

IMO, you should post this question at the main forum and ask for opinion. Plus, provide as much background information on yourself as possible. For example, which university do you graduate from.

Just curious.. why is finding a higher pay job based on your result so important? Isn't it nice to be able to get higher pay than your friends that did better than you in university? Your result is probably around the same as mine (which is not spectacular). I started off around 1.5k myself. Just having mysql knowledge is also not something very great actually. This is not valued very high in the IT market. Big companies that pay big money usually get a more propeitary database such as Oracle and so on. If you have another offer in hand, then you can be choosy. Otherwise, my advice is take the job first and start looking for another few months down the road. Experience is usually valued as much as qualifications in the job market unless you are going into the academic line. Exact CGPA doesn't really matter very much. Working and studying are 2 different worlds and it isn't always necessary that a good result = high paying job.

Hi, thanks for your suggestion smile.gif
I guess I'll reject the job offer tomorrow and in the mean time try to look better opportunities. Cause I don't want to limit myself to that company and hope to give myself more choices.

I graduated from Tunku Abdul Rahman College with degree from Campbell University (US).

Thanks smile.gif

Hi, thanks for your advice smile.gif

I'm not saying that I have great results. But at least I think I should get a job that can give me a salary that can justify the results that I got. And imo, if results are not important, then why there still peoples study so hard to get good results? Why not they just take it easy and just graduate with a pass? Just my opinion. And for now I think I need to give myself more time so I can look for more choices before decide which job should I take.

Thanks. smile.gif
